Target recalls Threshold candles due to potential laceration, fire hazards

Target recalled more than 2 million Threshold candles that have the potential to crack, which could lead to injuries and fire hazards.

This recall, which the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published Aug. 10, specifically impacts approximately 2.2 million Threshold Glass Jar candles in various scents, available in 5.5-ounce (single wick) and 20-ounce (three-wick) sizes.

The glass jars of these candles may crack or break during use, posing risks of lacerations and burns. Target received 19 reports of the jars breaking or cracking during use, resulting in one minor injury, the recall states.

Consumers who purchased the recalled product may return it to any Target store for a full refund.

Sensio electric, stovetop pressure cookers recalled due to burn hazards

Sensio initiated a product recall involving certain electric and stovetop pressure cookers as the lid may unintentionally unlock during use, which can lead to burn hazards.

This recall, which the CPSC website published Aug. 10, pertains to approximately 860,000 pressure cookers from Sensio brands, including Bella, Bella Pro Series, Crux and Cooks electric pressure cookers, as well as Bella stovetop pressure cookers.

Sensio received 63 reported incidents related to these pressure cookers, including 61 burn injuries, with some involving second- and third-degree burns affecting the face, torso, arms and hands, according to the recall notice.

Sensio distributed the pressure cookers to various retailers, including JCPenney, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Macy’s and Target stores nationwide, as well as online on platforms like amazon.com and others, from September 2015 to September 2020.

Nestlé announces recall for chocolate chip cookie dough due to potential wood contamination

Nestlé USA issued a product recall for two batches of its Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bar due to potential contamination with wood fragments.

The recall notice, published on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website Aug. 11, pertains to specific batches of Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough “break and bake” bar products produced April 24-25, 2023.

Nestlé initiated the recall after customers reported the presence of wood fragments in the products. While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, Nestlé says it took this precautionary measure, according to the recall notice.

Consumers who purchased the recalled cookie dough should return it to the retailer where it was purchased for a replacement or refund.

Real Kosher Ice Cream recalls Soft Serve on the Go due to potential listeria contamination

Real Kosher Ice Cream issued a product recall for its Soft Serve on the Go ice cream and sorbet cups due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is a microorganism that can result in severe and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems, according to the recall notice.

The recall notice mentions two reported cases of illness in two states, New York and Pennsylvania, with both individuals requiring hospitalization.

Real Kosher distributed the recalled Soft Serve on the Go cups through various channels, including canteens, grocery stores and convenience stores in multiple states. The recall advises consumers to cease consumption of the product immediately and either dispose of it or return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Organic green kiwi recall announced due to potential listeria contamination

David Oppenheimer and Co. I LLC issued a recall for all 1-pound clamshells of Zespri-brand organic green kiwifruit due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes.

This recall, posted on the FDA website Aug. 8, pertains specifically to the 1-pound clear plastic clamshells featuring the Zespri brand and carrying the UPC code 8 18849 02009 3, with the fruit inside bearing the GTIN barcode 9400 9552.
