Walmart misrepresents the actual thread count of its Hotel Style brand bed sheet sets it sells, manufactures, labels, distributes, and advertises, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiffs Arnesia Thomas, Pascha Perkins, and Vernite Faison claim Walmart misrepresents the Hotel Style bed sheet sets as having an 800 thread count, when, in reality, the real thread count is “far less.”

“Because of the improperly inflated thread counts that Walmart represented on the packaging and labeling of the Hotel Style Sheets, in purchasing these sheets, Plaintiffs and the putative classes received far less than what Walmart promised them,” the Walmart class action states.

The plaintiffs argue Walmart “commonly and consistently” communicates to its customers that a bed sheet with a higher thread count is more comfortable and of higher quality than those with a lower thread count.

The plaintiffs want to represent a nationwide class and California and Illinois subclasses of consumers who have purchased Hotel Style bed sheets from Walmart within the applicable statute of limitations.

Walmart deceives consumers into purchasing Hotel Style sheets with ‘improperly inflated’ thread count, class action alleges

The plaintiffs argue Walmart ultimately deceived and included consumers into purchasing its Hotel Style sheet sets by labeling the product with an “improperly inflated” thread count.

“This false and misleading representation deceives consumers into believing they are purchasing a product of a higher quality, durability, and softness than products of the same or substantially similar blends with lower thread counts,” the Walmart class action states.

The plaintiffs claim Walmart is guilty of unjust enrichment, common law fraud, breach of express warranty and negligent misrepresentation, and of violating Illinois’ Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act and three California laws.

The plaintiffs are demanding a jury trial and requesting an award of compensatory and punitive damages for themselves and all class members.

A separate false advertising class action lawsuit was filed against Walmart earlier this year over claims its “bamboo” products are actually made with rayon fibers

Is it normal for these sheets to not have any tags? Nothing stating what they are made of. I’ve never seen that before and wondering if they are a knockoff
