Trader Joe’s basil recall overview: 

  • Who: Trader Joe’s initiated a recall for Infinite Herbs Organic Basil sold at Trader Joe’s stores between Feb. 1 and April 6, 2024. 
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the organic basil product may have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. 
  • Where: The recalled organic basil product was sold at Trader Joe’s store locations in 29 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. 

Trader Joe’s initiated a recall of its Infinite Herbs Organic Basil over concerns the product may have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. 

The recall involves Infinite Herbs Organic Basil that came in 2.5-ounce packaging and was sold at Trader Joe’s stores in 29 U.S. states and the District of Columbia between Feb. 1 and April 6, 2024. 

Consumers who purchased the recalled Infinite Herbs Organic Basil product between the listed date range are asked to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s location to receive a full refund. 

Trader Joe’s has voluntarily removed recalled organic basil from store shelves, FDA says

Trader Joe’s has already removed all of the recalled Infinite Herbs Organic Basil from its store shelves, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which noted the product is also likely past its shelf-life. 

The agency also warned consumers not to eat organic basil they purchased from Trader Joe’s but have already removed from its packaging, just in case the product was Infinite-Herbs brand.

Trader Joe’s agreed to settle a class action lawsuit last month that was filed against the grocery store over claims it deceptively labeled some of its products as “All Natural” or “100% Natural.”
