Costco mattress recall overview:

  • Who: FXI recalled about 48,000 of its Novaform ComfortGrande 14-inch and Novaform DreamAway 8-inch mattresses sold exclusively at Costco.
  • Why: The mattresses could have been exposed to water during the manufacturing process, creating a mold risk.
  • Where: The mattress recall is effective in the United States.

FXI announced a recall for 48,000 of its Novaform ComfortGrande 14-inch and Novaform DreamAway 8-inch mattress products due to a mold risk after the mattresses were exposed to water during the manufacturing process.

FXI sold the mattresses exclusively at Costco in the northwest United States and in the San Francisco Bay area, according to the Costco mattress mold risk recall.

The Costco mattress mold risk recall includes ComfortGrande 14-inch mattresses with item numbers 1413200 (king), 1413201 (California king), 1413202 (queen), 1413203 (full) and 1413204 (twin).

Consumers can identify the mattresses by the name “Novaform” printed in white letters on the base and the item number printed on the mattress box and on the law tag attached to the mattress, the recall states.

The Costco recall also includes DreamAway 8-inch mattresses with item numbers 1698562 (twin) and 1698564 (full).

Customers should contact FXI for full refund, free replacement, Costco mattress recall says

FXI says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Customers should contact FXI for a full refund or a replacement mattress with free delivery and pickup/disposal. They can reach FXI at 888-886-2057 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday, or online at novaformcomfort.com/pages/recall.

In other mattress news, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) recently said it determined there is a “reasonable indication” the U.S. mattress industry is being materially injured by mattresses imported from 13 countries.
