The CPSC recently recalled Mr. Steak gas grillsThe United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that Bass Pro is recalling its MR. STEAK gas grills over concerns that the grill could pose a fire hazard.

Customers who purchased the recalled grills are eligible for a free repair kit.

The CPSC reports that the MR. STEAK grills were recalled after it was discovered that the gas regulator hose with a fuel gauge can melt.

The melting reportedly occurs if the hose comes into contact with the bottom of the grill’s firebox, which could create a risk of fire.

Bass Pro has reportedly received nine reports of fires occurring in MR. STEAK grills. No cases of injuries or property damage have been reported in conjunction with the grills.

The recall was announced on Dec. 10, 2019, and affects around 3,300 units sold in the United States. The CPSC notes that in addition to those 3,300 units recalled by the CPSC, 400 units were also sold in Canada. To protect customers in both Canada and the Untied States, the MR. STEAK gas grill recall was implemented in conjunction with Canada.

The MR. STEAK gas grills were reportedly sold around the country at Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, and ABT Appliance & Electronics stores. They were also sold online through various retailers.

The grills were on the market from May 2017 through July 2019. The four burner grill retailed for around $500 and the five burner grill retailed for about $600.

The MR. STEAK grills used propane gas, and have both a fuel gauge and a fuel line. The fuel line is reportedly not attached to the inside of the grill. The CPSC describes the grills as stainless steel with a black trim. The grills have four or five black and red dials, depending on the model. The words “MR. STEAK” are printed below the thermometer on the grills’ lids.

According to the CPSC, affected grills have model numbers MS-4B-PG, SKU 2472264 and MS-5B-PG, SKU 2472265. If a customer added a fuel gauge to the regulator assembly after they purchased then the recall also affects SKUs 2366916 and 2366917.

Customers can locate the model number of their grills on the label either located on the inside of the left compartment door or on the back of the grill. The SKU number can be found on the purchase receipt.

MR. STEAK grill owners are advised to immediately stop using the recalled product. Customers who purchased the grills can receive a free repair kit from MR. STEAK.

MR.STEAK can be contacted toll free at 833-677-8325 or 833-MRSTEAK from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Customers can also visit mr.steak.com/repairskit for more information about the available repair kit, or visit mr.steak.com and click on “RECALL” for more information.
