Cuisinart recall overview:

  • Who: Conair has issued a recall for around 66,000 of its Cuisinart brand Compact Blender & Juice Extractor Combos Model CBJ-450.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the product could pose a laceration risk due to a defect involving the nut holding the blender blade in place.
  • Where: Nationwide.

Conair has recalled around 66,000 of its Cuisinart brand Compact Blender & Juice Extractor Combos Model CBJ-450 over concerns it could present a laceration hazard due to a defect affecting the nut holding the blender blade.

The recall was initiated after Conair discovered the nut holding the blender blade in place could loosen and detach from the base of the device when the blender is in use, according to a recall published on Dec. 1.

An additional 1,500 or so devices sold in Canada were included in the recall, in addition to the roughly 66,000 affected Cuisinart blenders in the U.S.

Consumers who own Cuisinart brand Compact Blender & Juice Extractor Combos can find if they have the affected model number CBJ-450 by checking a printed label located on the bottom of the device and on its original packaging, according to the Cuisinart recall.

Conair tells consumers to immediately stop using recalled blender part

Conair is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled blender part and to contact the company directly in order to receive a free replacement blade assembly and instructions on how to install it.

The company says it has received three reports of incidents where a blade has detached during use, but that no injuries connected to the recall have been reported, according to the Cuisinart recall.

The recalled blender devices were sold for around $80 from between November 2021 and August 2022 at a variety of stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com, among other retailers.

A class action lawsuit was filed against Cuisinart in January by a consumer arguing its Digital AirFryer Toaster Ovens are unsafe to be used on countertops due to them allegedly not having proper shielding in place to prevent burn damage.
