Mushroom recall overview: 

  • Who: Green Day Produce Inc. recalled some packs of enoki mushrooms. 
  • Why: The mushrooms may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Green Day Produce Inc. recalled 200-gram packages of enoki mushrooms nationwide as the mushrooms are potentially contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website published the recall Nov. 17. It applies to 200g / 7.05 oz. packages of Enoki Mushroom (Product of Korea) sold from Sept. 2022 to Oct. 2022. 

According to the mushroom recall, Green Day Produce distributed the affected enoki mushrooms nationwide to distributors and retail stores.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development discovered the potential for contamination it collected and analyzed a routine sample, the recall states.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the potential contamination. The FDA suspended the mushrooms’ distribution, according to the mushroom recall.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Enoki mushroom recall says product should be returned for full refund

Green Day Produce asks consumers who purchased the recalled packages of enoki mushrooms to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. 

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems, the mushroom recall states. 

The enoki mushrooms come in a 200g / 7.05 oz. clear plastic package. The UPC is 16430-69080 on the back of the package.
