- Where: The Walmart recall is active in the United States.
More than 6,000 pounds of frozen Crispy Chicken with Almonds entrée products sold at Walmarts and other retailers nationwide have been recalled due to misbranding.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website posted the recall notice Dec. 15.
Mountain View Packaging LLC recalled the products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the chicken recall notice says.
“The product contains shellfish (shrimp), a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label,” according to the recall notice.
The recalled frozen, ready-to-eat products are in 18.5-oz packages with the label “INNOVASIAN Crispy Chicken with Almonds ENTREE,” lot code 22321-1, UPC code 695119120499 and a best-by date of 05/24/2023.
These products were shipped to retail locations nationwide, including Walmart.
Customer raises alarm after finding shrimp in chicken product, recall notice states
Mountain View notified FSIS that it received a consumer complaint reporting they had found shrimp in a product labeled as Crispy Chicken with Almonds, the Walmart recall states.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions to the products so far, the company says.
Mountain View is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
Meanwhile, FSIS says it is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ or retailers’ freezers.
“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and retailers are urged not to sell them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” the recall notice states.
Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Meanwhile, Walmart has been the target of numerous class action lawsuits this year, with claims ranging from false advertising to misleading representations and failing to properly monitor its money transfer service. The big box retailer also issued multiple recalls.
