Betty Lou’s recall overview: 

  • Who: Betty Lou’s issued a voluntary recall of 1.76-ounce packages of its Stabilyze Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter bar. 
  • Why: The bars include a natural peanut butter flavoring that includes sesame oil, yet sesame isn’t declared on the ingredients list.

Betty Lou’s issued a voluntary recall of 1.76-ounce packages of its Stabilyze Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter nutrition bar because sesame was not declared on the packaging’s ingredients list.

The Betty Lou’s recall applies to individual bars marked with UPC 0 16073 00213 1 and 12 packs of bars with UPC 0 16073 00223 0. All of the packages are marked with BB 05APR24 0053.

The company says it initiated initiated the nutrition bar recall after an internal packaging review showed the bars included a natural peanut butter flavoring that includes sesame oil yet sesame isn’t declared on the ingredients list.

Betty Lou’s sold the bars to distribution companies and retail stores and shipped them directly to customers in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Customers with sesame allergies should dispose of bars or return for refund, recall says

Betty Lou’s says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Customers with a sesame allergy should dispose of the bars without consuming them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers can reach Betty Lou’s at 503-434-5205 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, Monday to Friday.

In a similar nutrition bar recall, ]Wellness Natural USA Inc. in May recalled all lots of SimplyProtein Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispy Bars within expiration as the product may contain undeclared cashews.
