A number of class action settlements opened in June for consumers to make claims for rebates through the month of July and beyond. 

The class action settlements resolve claims concerning deleted online reviews, unsolicited calls, false advertising, and benzene contamination, among other things. 

A company may agree to a class action settlement to avoid litigation and help garner good faith amongst consumers, without actually admitting to any wrongdoing.

Google agreed to pay $23 million to resolve claims it shared search queries with third-party websites and companies without having the consent to do so

The settlement was made to benefit a class of Google Search users who clicked on a search result in the US from between Oct. 26, 2006 and Sept. 30, 2013. 

Individuals who want to make a claim to join the class action settlement must submit a valid claim form by July 31, 2023. 

FTC secures $4.2 million settlement with Fashion Nova to end claims company deleted negative product reviews

Fashion Nova agreed to pay $4.2 million to resolve claims by the Federal Trade Commission that the retail company broke the law by allegedly deleting negative reviews on its products. 

The settlement will benefit consumers who were influenced by a positive review to purchase a product on Fashion Nova’s website before Nov. 21, 2019, and who were then dissatisfied but unable to secure a full refund. 

A valid claim form must be submitted by Aug. 15, 2023 to be eligible to make a claim to join the class action settlement. 

Roblox to pay $10 million to end claims it allowed child users to make excessive purchases

Roblox agreed to pay $10 million to put to bed claims the online game platform took advantage of its underage users by allowing them to make excessive purchases, before allegedly deleting content in an attempted cover-up

The settlement will benefit individuals who had a Roblox account prior to May 11, 2023 and who had their content on the platform moderated and removed. 

Individuals who want to make a claim to join the class action settlement must submit a valid claim form by Aug. 10, 2023. 

DirecTV agrees to pay $16.85 million to end claims it placed calls to numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry

DirecTV will pay $16.85 million to resolve claims the cable company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by allegedly placing unsolicited marketing calls to individuals with numbers listed on the National Do Not Call Registry. 

The settlement will benefit individuals who received more than one telemarketing call from DirecTV AC1 Communications within a twelve month period to a number listed on the National Do Not Call Registry. 

A valid claim form must be submitted by Aug. 7, 2023 to be eligible to make a claim to join the class action settlement. 

Claims Wipe Out! products falsely advertised as safe to use as surface disinfectant leads to $2 million settlement

Wipe Out! manufacturer Tzumi Innovations agreed to pay $2 million to end claims the company falsely advertised that its Wipe Out! antibacterial wipes were safe and legal to use as a surface disinfectant. 

The settlement was made to benefit consumers who purchased Wipe Out! Wipes, Wipe Out! Multi-Surface Wipes or Wipe Out! Multi-Surface Decontaminant Spray in the US on or before April 19, 2023.

Individuals who want to make a claim to join the class action settlement must submit a valid claim form by July 18, 2023. 

Herbalife to pay $12.5 million over claims it misled distributors about the value of attending its US events

Herbalife agreed to pay $12.5 million to end claims the dietary supplement manufacturer misled distributors about the value of attending its events in the US. 

The settlement will benefit Herbalife distributors who purchased tickets to at least two Herbalife events based in the US from between Jan. 1, 2009 and April 6, 2023. 

A valid claim form must be submitted by Aug. 4, 2023 to be eligible to make a claim to join the class action settlement. 

TransUnion Rental Screening Solutions to pay $11.5 million over claims it made inaccurate consumer reports

TransUnion Rental Screening Solutions will pay $11.5 million to resolve claims the screening company included inaccurate information in its consumer reports. 

The settlement was made to benefit individuals who TransUnion Rental Screening Solutions reported a criminal record and/or landlord-tenant record to a third party to a third party since Nov. 7, 2016, along with several additional classes.

Individuals who want to make a claim to join the class action settlement must have submitted a valid claim form by the end of June. 

Virgin Scent to pay $3.08 million to end claims it sold Artnaturals hand sanitizer contaminated with benzene

Virgin Scent agreed to pay $3.08 million to end claims it sold Artnaturals brand hand sanitizer that was contaminated with the cancer-causing chemical benzene

The settlement will benefit consumers who purchased a Artnaturals hand sanitizer product from between Jan. 1, 2015 and May 23, 2023. 

A valid claim form must be submitted by Aug. 12, 2023 to be eligible to make a claim to join the class action settlement.

Computer Generated Solutions pays $517,000 to resolve claims it ran unlawful employee background checks

Computer Generated Solutions has agreed to pay $517,000 to put to bed claims the computer software company violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by allegedly conducting unlawful employee background checks

The settlement will benefit current and former applicants or employees of Computer Generated Solutions who had an employment background check conducted by the company from between July 9, 2019 and Jan. 11, 2022. 

Individuals who want to make a claim to join the class action settlement must submit a valid claim form by July 31, 2023. 

Creative Services agrees to pay $1.2 million to end claims it failed to prevent 2021 data breach 

Creative Services agreed to a settlement worth $1.2 million that will end claims the background investigations and security consulting firm failed to prevent a 2021 data breach that exposed the sensitive information of consumers and employees. 

The settlement was made to benefit consumers and Creative Services employees who had their personally identifying information potentially accessed by an unauthorized third party during the data breach. 

A valid claim form must be submitted by Aug. 10, 2023 to be eligible to make a claim to join the class action settlement.
