Starbucks chicken sandwich removal overview:

  • Who: Starbucks has pulled a new chicken sandwich from its menu after only six days
  • Why: The sandwich was reportedly making people sick with diarrhea
  • Where: Nationwide

Starbucks has removed a new chicken sandwich from its menu just six days after introducing it, after multiple reports of the sandwich making people sick with diarrhea.

The new Chicken, Maple Butter and Egg Sandwich was launched June 21. By early July, hundreds of customers had taken to social media to share their symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain after eating the sandwich, the New York Post reports.

“Suing for the worst diarrhea of my life. I have been living in my bathroom for 2 days now,” one person reportedly posted to TikTok June 28.

Six days after launching the new menu item, Starbucks sent an urgent memo to store employees to immediately “stop selling and discard” the sandwich. The memo was posted online by a staff member.

Quality standards not reached

In a statement, Starbucks acknowledged that the Chicken Maple Butter sandwich “did not meet Starbucks’ quality standards,” saying the company issued a voluntary recall.

A spokesperson added that the product is fully cooked and only “warmed” in the stores.

“It’s not related to listeria and salmonella,” as some people reported, she told the New York Post.

Meanwhile, Starbucks is being sued by a coffee lover who alleges the multinational company underfills its Cold Brew Concentrate coffee products.

In 2020, a California resident also filed a class action lawsuit claiming that not all Starbucks venti drinks contain more caffeine than their grande counterparts, and that this inconsistency is misleading customers.

I tried the Chicken Maple Butter breakfast sandwich and loved it. I had three of them and experienced no symptoms. I was so disappointed when the sandwich was pulled. I’m hoping they add the maple butter to one of their other breakfast sandwiches, like the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich. The maple butter is so flavorful.

I continue to still receive negative comments and derogatory remarks because of the a business of two people making up name that they have no connection to, have no rights to, because this is an actual name that have had businesses with my last name as part of the company’s name.
Unfortunate for me, my grandpa who was loaded and I know wouldve helped me with an attorney as my name came from him. From David schultz and the other dingleberry’s legal team, an email was sent over stating 30 days to change the business name or we’ll have it taken to court. Damn papa… they trying slick and slimy practices. I had even complained and requested to speak to someone who wasnt a customer or sales rep. I needed a head honcho to present my account of and stand the ground and ties to my birth name.
I kept getting dumb replies like, which location did you experience this…drove me nuts with the AI emails. I know I have something here. And i also know they have something I want and very much so deserve after having been negatively impacted by the actions, inactions and reactions. So because of inability to hire legal counsel I’ve resorted to reaching out publicly here.
