Food Recalls Overview:

Consumers looking to stock up their fridge beware — a trio of health agencies have issued food recalls on Italian-style meats, chicken dip, and a Bloody Mary mix, warning consumers of important safety concerns.  

CDC Warns of Food Recalls on Italian-Style Meats 

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warned of a salmonella outbreak traced to Italian-style meats such as salami, prosciutto, coppa, and soppressata. The agency says that more than thirty people reported becoming ill after consuming Fratelli Beretta brand pre-packaged Uncured Antipasto trays with “best by” dates on or before February 11, 2022. 

The CDC says consumers should not eat the product and the agency will be investigating the salmonella outbreak which currently stretches over 17 states.  

Food Recalls Include 52K Pounds of Chicken Dip 

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that various Willow Tree Poultry Farms was issuing food recalls on several products, amounting to 52,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken salad and dip sold in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The USDA warned that the products may be contaminated with hard white plastic.  

The products affected by the food recalls include various items produced between Aug. 10 and 13. The recalled chicken dips and salad are:  

  • 5-lb container of “Willow Tree Premium White Meat Caesar Chicken Dip” with sell by dates of 09/03/2021 and 09/06/2021. 
  • 5-lb and 12-oz containers of “Willow Tree Premium White Meat Buffalo Chicken Dip” with sell by dates of 09/03/2021 and 09/05/2021. 
  • 5-lb container of “Willow Tree Premium White Meat Buffalo Chicken Salad” with a sell by date of 09/07/2021. 
  • 15-oz container of “Willow Tree Premium White Meat Buffalo Chicken Salad” with sell by dates of 09/07/2021 and 09/09/2021. 
  • 15-oz container of “Willow Tree Premium White Meat Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad” with a sell by date of 09/08/2021. 
  • 15-oz container of “Willow Tree Premium White Meat Classic Chicken Salad” with sell by dates of 09/07/2021, 09/08/2021, 09/09/2021, 09/10/2021. 
  • 7.5-oz container of “Willow Tree Premium White Meat Classic Chicken Salad” with sell by dates of 09/07/2021 and 09/09/2021. 
  • 10-lb container of “Willow Tree Premium White Meat Classic Chicken Salad” with a sell by date of 09/08/2021. 

The USDA says the food recalls were issued after a consumer complained and that those with the chicken products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.  

Jimbo’s Bloody Mary Mix Part of Food Recalls 

Jimbo’s Kitchen joins the food recalls after discovering that its Bloody Mary Mix may contain undeclared soy, wheat and sulfites. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that consumers with a sensitivity to these allergens may suffer a life-threatening reaction to the product.  

The recalled Jimbo’s Bloody Mary Mix comes in a stand-up plastic resealable pouch and was sold in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Minnesota.  

Those who purchased Jimbo’s Bloody Mary Mix can return it to the New England Cupboard for a full refund.
