Bosch Microwave Oven Defect Class Action Lawsuit Overview:

Bosch manufactured and sold microwave ovens with defective control panel displays that become unreadable with use, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Lead plaintiffs, Rebecca Hirsch, Prasanna Ramakrishnan, Amanda Carlton, and
Michele O’Dell, claim that the defect affects Bosch Series 800 stainless steel microwave oven combinations and relates to the brightness of the display on its control panel. They want to represent a nationwide Class of consumers who purchased the defective Bosch microwave ovens.
The Bosch 800 Series retails for more than $2,000 and is designed to be installed in the wall of a kitchen above a convection oven, according to the class action lawsuit.
Each of the plaintiffs say that the control panel display on their Bosch microwave oven became dim to the point that it was unreadable.
“The Control Panel is essentially the steering wheel of the Microwave/Ovens, which cannot operate properly or safely without the Control Panel,” states the class action lawsuit.
Hirsch, Ramakrishnan,Carlton, and O’Dell allege the dimness of the control panel eliminates vital features such as temperature display, cooking modes, the clock, and the timer.
Bosch Hid Microwave Oven Defect from Consumers
Bosch is being accused of deliberately attempting to conceal the defect from Plaintiffs and Class Members, says the class action lawsuit.
Hirsch, Ramakrishnan,Carlton, and O’Dell allege Bosch knew, or should have known, about the alleged defect, yet continued to market, advertise, and sell the microwave oven combinations without warning consumers.
The class action lawsuit contends that Bosch failed to provide consumers with non-defective replacements, instead opting to replace them with equally defective units or control panels, or denying the warranty claim entirely.
Plaintiffs allege some consumers beyond their warranty period had to pay $400 or more for subsequent Bosch microwave repairs and replacements. Consumers would not have purchased the Bosch microwave oven combinations had they known about the alleged defect, the class action lawsuit says.
“Plaintiffs and other similarly situated customers… purchased and used Bosch’s defective Microwave/Ovens when they otherwise would not have made such purchases on the same terms or at all, or would not have paid as much for the defective units,” states the class action lawsuit.
Plaintiffs say the alleged Bosch microwave oven defect has led to financial damages and injury, and that they are entitled to all damages, along with costs, interest and fees, as allowed by law.
Bosch had a previous class action lawsuit lodged against them in 2018 for allegedly colluding with General Motors, Ford, and Fiat Chrysler to sell diesel vehicles with defective Bosch-manufactured fuel injection pumps.
This is not the first time a class action lawsuit has been filed in relation to a microwave oven either. A class action lawsuit was filed against ElectroLux Home Products for selling Frigidaire over-the-range microwaves with allegedly unsafe stainless steel handles back in 2016.

We have bought a Bosch Oven and Microwave Combo from Home Depot. Right in the first year our Cartridge fuse went off. Till now, we have replaced the fuse 4 times. Whenever we call the technician to replace it, the costs are upward$300. My friend who bought the combo after we did have the same problem.

We had this BOSCH Built in 800 series wall oven/microwave oven for over 8 years now. And the microwave display got dimmed about 3 years after the purchase. It is almost unreadable now. The microwave turntable stopped turning about the same time. This combination unit cost over $3,500.00 8 years ago and it is now well over $4,100.00. This is totally unacceptable.
1. Same display issue with Bosch 500 Series installed as part of a new condominium unit in The Independent in hundreds of units. They told us it was an energy saving feature.
2. Door switches are also a problem from the beginning, caused arc fault protection on circuit breakers to trip. My door switch eventually failed completely and caused sparking that caused the capacitor to fail – repair $384.
Yep, our Botched microwave just blew its 4th switch. What a piece of junk! Would LOVE to be part of a suit.
Bought one because of the goood Bosch name. This has been the worst appliance ever. Only lasts 3-4 months before needs repaired. And now the second display is getting dim
We bought a BOSCH 500 Series Microwave oven. I wanted the 800 series speed oven but our retailer advised they have lots of issues. My 500 series failed at 22 months due to blown door switches an a fuse. The repair was $500. Either the switches or design is terrible. We need a class action on all late model Bosch microwaves.
