Frigidaire class action lawsuit overview:

A new class action lawsuit alleges Electrolux failed to warn consumers that its Frigidaire-brand gas ranges pose a burn hazard.
Plaintiff James Reato claims Electrolux sold the defective gas ranges at major retailers, such as Lowe’s and The Home Depot, as well as online, from June 2025 through January 2026, without disclosing the risk to consumers.
“[Electrolux] had a duty to disclose material facts to [the] plaintiff and class members given their relationship as contracting parties and intended users of the products,” the Frigidaire class action lawsuit says.
The alleged burn hazard is due to delayed ignition of the oven’s bake burner, which led to the affected ovens being recalled in March, according to the class action lawsuit.
Reato wants to represent a nationwide class and Illinois subclass of consumers who purchased a Frigidaire gas range recalled in March 2026 within the statute of limitations.
Recalled Frigidaire gas ranges ‘unfit’ for normal use, class action alleges
The class action lawsuit claims that Frigidaire received at least 62 reports of delayed ignition, including 30 reports of burn injuries, as reported in a recall issued in March.
Further, Reato argues Electrolux’s failure to disclose the burn hazard deprived consumers of the basis of their bargain and rendered the Frigidaire gas ranges “unmerchantable and unfit for their normal intended use.”
“Indeed, no reasonable consumer, including the plaintiff, would have purchased the product had they known of the material omissions regarding the possibility that the products could burn them,” the Frigidaire class action lawsuit says.
Reato claims Electrolux is guilty of breach of express and implied warranties, fraudulent concealment, strict liability for failure to warn and design defect, and negligent failure to warn, design defect and manufacturing defect.
The plaintiff demands a jury trial and requests declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of compensatory, statutory and punitive damages for himself and all class members.
Earlier this year, a consumer filed a similar class action lawsuit against Electrolux over claims revolving around Frigidaire gas range recall.
