GE class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Plaintiff Avroham Sherman filed a class action lawsuit against Haier US Appliance Solutions Inc., doing business as GE Appliances.
- Why: Sherman claims GE Appliances sold washer-dryer combo appliances with defective lint traps and air ducts that cause excessive lint accumulation.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in New York federal court.
A new class action lawsuit accuses GE Appliances of selling washer-dryer combo appliances with defective lint traps and air ducts that cause excessive lint accumulation.
Plaintiff Avroham Sherman claims the defect causes the appliances to fail to perform their central function of drying laundry.
Sherman wants to represent a New York class of consumers who purchased or leased a GE Ultrafast 2-in-1 washer-dryer combo.
The class action lawsuit claims GE Appliances failed to disclose the alleged defect to consumers who have been turned away from receiving repairs or have received ineffective cleaning or superficial repair of components that are not the source of the defect.
“As a result, the dryer’s lint filtration system fails to prevent lint from reaching the dryer’s evaporator (cooling) and condenser (heating) coils, as it would if the dryer were not defective,” the GE class action lawsuit says.
Sherman argues GE Appliances is guilty of breach of warranty, breach of contract, unjust enrichment and fraudulent concealment and of violating the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act and New York General Business Law.
GE class action claims company knew about defect
Sherman claims GE Appliances has long known of the alleged defect and that the appliances’ lint traps and ducts are not fit for their intended purpose. The plaintiff argues the company concealed and/or failed to notify the public of the existence and nature of the alleged defect and has not recalled the appliances to replace the malfunctioning duct and lint systems.
Sherman demands a jury trial and requests declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of compensatory, consequential and statutory damages for himself and all class members.
In another class action involving home appliances, Electrolux Consumer Products Inc. was sued over allegations it sold Frigidaire ovens with a dangerous defect that can cause the glass window on the front of the appliance to explode.

104 thoughts onGE Appliances sued over washer-dryer combo that allegedly fails to dry clothes
I’ve had a ge combo for a little over a year and have had to have technicians come out twice already. Due to the first technician telling me his experience working on these I had to purchase an extended warranty which I’ve used already. Never dried any clothing… wish I’d just get my money back and get an old style machine that never breaks…
We bought TWO of these machines and neither of them work anymore. I just purchased the updated filter for them because GE clearly knows their machines are defective and instead of sending these to consumers free of charge, they’re SELLING to consumers who have to provide hacks to fix these dangerous machines.
We bought our unit in September 2023. By May 2025 it threw a 353 code (heat pump issue). Serviced and parts replaced June 16, 2025. It threw the code again today. Exactly one year. Although GE service would not give us an estimate, the diagnostic is $115 and we looked up the parts from our first service order and they total over $900 for parts alone. So we’re looking at a $1,500 service after less than three years using a machine that has already been fixed once. We maintain the machine impeccably and don’t use dryer sheets or fabric softener. Disappointed because we love the combo feature but we cannot afford $1,500 of yearly maintenance on our $2,600 appliance!
Lint bypasses the lint trap, collects on the walls, coils and accumulates. The drain holes get clogged and small pieces of clothing, like socks get caught in the plastic seal preventing the unit to drain properly. The little drain holes get clogged with lint requiring constant cleaning. The machine requires constant cleaning and was never disclose to me. It has certainly been an expensive disappointment.
I have the combo and have been advocating for them to remove it off the market and refund my money. Since last year July 2025, they have came out to service it, replaced it, and servicing the replacement. I would not recommend purchasing this unit, the drum is defective, and they don’t care! I have another multiple repair coming on the 18th if June. But I bet they will keep it up till July, when my year is up, and basically say thanks sucker.
We have the machine at the center of the lawsuit and I’d be happy to join this lawsuit as this is a fully defective product. There’s so many issues with this machine. I’m surprised this was sold to the public
I own a GE all in one and have for a little over a year in a couple of days I will be recycling it because it stopped drying due to the lint trap and is unable to be fixed with out costing a arm and a leg.
I have the ge profile all in one washer and dryer. It keeps throwing the code 18 error called ge they told me to call a local company to come fix it that they won’t send someone out to service because my warranty just ran out called a local company they came and ran a service diagnostic told me the drain filter motor and something else and it was going to cost me 1500 to 1700 to repair. And they have had so many calls and problems with this model. It doesn’t dry clothes completely this washer dryer all in one is a great concept but not woth it
