Weee! grocery store data breach overview:

  • Who: Asian and Hispanic grocery store Weee! confirmed a data breach that exposed the private information of 1.1 million of its customers.
  • Why: A threat actor named IntelBroker posted on a hacking forum that they had stolen a database of 11 million customers — reportedly only containing 1.1 million unique email addresses, however.
  • Where: Consumers nationwide use Weee!

Weee!, an Asian and Hispanic grocery store and delivery service, confirmed it suffered a data breach that exposed the information of 1.1 million of its customers.

A threat actor named IntelBroker posted the stolen data on the Breached hacking and data breach forum, Bleeping Computer reports.

While IntelBroker reportedly wrote IntelBroker stole a database of 11 million customers, Troy Hunt of the Have I Been Pwned data breach notification service tells Bleeping Computer the database only contained 1.1 million unique email addresses.

Information exposed in the Weee! data breach includes customers’ full names, phone numbers, email addresses, order notes and device types, along with other data, Bleeping Computer reports.

Weee! reportedly says that none of its customers’ payment information was stolen during the data breach, noting that the company does not retain that data.

Weee! data breach impacts customers who placed orders from between July 12, 2021, and July 12, 2022

The Weee! data breach specifically impacted customers who placed an order with the company between July 12, 2021, and July 12, 2022, according to a statement Weee! provided to Bleeping Computer.

Weee! reportedly says it has already notified its customers about the incident and will directly notify any customer whose information was exposed during the data breach.

Customers who want to find out if their information was exposed in the Weee! grocery store data breach can search for their email addresses on Have I Been Pwned once the data breach notification service adds the data.

In other recent data breach news, a consumer filed a class action lawsuit against Rackspace Technology Inc. earlier this month, arguing that a December 2022 data breach was caused by the company’s own negligence.

I have received multiple spam calls and texts from different numbers almost everyday, it is really annoying. Weee has to be hold accountable for its reckless handling of consumer data. I am really interested in a class action lawsuit.

  2. Sarah Li says:

weee is really not responsible And doesn’t even realize this is a serious issue. And I received many fraud texts And calls after the breach. It’s really annoying and make people worried.

  3. Samuel says:

My data have been exposed, everyday I was received the scammer email, fraud message and phone call!!!

  4. Jenny says:

Ever since I bought something from Weee! I have been receiving scam calls and text messages constantly, which has had a serious impact on my life. I feel ashamed for weee!. A company gains profit by compromising the privacy of its users will not last long.

  5. Carmen says:

I started to receive spam calls, emails and text messages after I bought grocery with weee. I even received more spam messages after weee sent out the data breach notice.

  6. Vanessa Bennett says:

  7. Sarah says:

I received a lot of scam messages and phone calls.
Also, I have received strange bills. Luckily, my friends were with me so I didn’t lose any money.
It is just unbelievable! So ridiculous.

  8. Anna says:

Tons of scam text messages and phone calls! Most of them are in Chinese! The company needs to pay for what they did! So embarrassed!

  9. Ziyi Fu says:

I am extremely frustrated and concerned with the abundance of fraudulent messages and phone calls I’ve been receiving after registering with Weee using only my phone number. It’s disappointing and concerning that my personal information may have been irresponsibly disposed of.

    1. Angela Garrett says:

Being victimized in the past by corporations who have had databreach, I was disgusted to discover that my new email address was exposed to the Dark Web due to SayWeee’s negligence.

I’ve noticed within the last week, I have been receiving spam emails, and suspicious scam calls (that thankfully) my phone monitors and blocks.

I wish there was a way to sue to these guys for this. Because and email notifying me about this breach does not solve the problem.

  10. Y says:

I deleted my Weee account in January but still got notified by McAfee in February, saying that my phone number and email address had been found on the dark web, it’s so ridiculous!
