Reventics data breach class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Roger Loeb filed a class action lawsuit against Reventics LLC.
  • Why: Loeb claims Reventics, during a December 2022 data breach, failed to protect the personally identifiable information and private health information of customers of medical providers who use its products and services.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in Colorado federal court.
  • What are my options: Consumers wishing to better protect their own personal data may be interested in products from Norton LifeLock.

Reventics failed to adequately protect the personally identifiable information and protected health information of customers of medical care providers who use its products and services, during a December 2022 data breach, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Roger Loeb claims Reventics failed to “adequately implement and maintain data security practices and measures” for the stored personally identifiable information and protected health information compromised during the breach.

Loeb argues Reventics should have known that a data breach was a possibility due to other well-publicized incidents, but ultimately failed to take the “adequate and reasonable” steps to secure its computer systems from being vulnerable.

“Despite numerous and highly publicized data breaches, Defendant failed to implement necessary and basic security measures to prevent the unauthorized access to this information,” the Reventics class action states.

Loeb wants to represent a nationwide class of individuals who had their personally identifiable information or private health information exposed to unauthorized third parties in the Reventics data breach that was discovered on December 15, 2022.

Reventics alleged failure to protect information ‘directly and proximately caused injuries,’ says class action

Personally identifiable information and private health information exposed in the Reventics data breach included full names, addresses, birthdates, Social Security numbers, and medical record numbers, among other things, according to the Reventics class action.

“Defendant’s failure to adequately implement and maintain data security practices and measures for stored (personally identifiable information) and (private health information) directly and proximately caused injuries to Plaintiff and the Class,” the Reventics class action states.

Loeb claims Reventics is guilty of unjust enrichment and negligence and of violating the Colorado Consumer Protection Act

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory and injunctive relief along with an award of actual, economic, statutory, punitive, and/or nominal damages for himself and all class members.

Last month, the Medical Review Institute of America agreed to pay $2.6 million to resolve claims it failed to protect the private information of consumers from being compromised during a 2021 data breach.

  1. Windy says:

I received this letter also and have had identify theft already. Please let me know how to be included in this class action

  2. Laura says:

I just got the letter today and found this Googling if it was even real. How do we sign up to be a part of the lawsuit?

  3. Rain Eastcreek says:

I have also been hugely effected by this and now my credit is destroyed bc of identity theft and I’m in. Just tell me what to do. I got my letter around June 7th as well and I called IDX and they said they can help but I didn’t enroll until I know more about them bc this was not identified and caught in March it was last year Reventics knew about it. And our medical information should not have been in the hands of this company. Do some research before you enroll with IDX bc I’m not convinced yet, I would lock your credit with the 3 credit bureaus to prevent what I am going through bc now I have some third party collector trying to sue me over debt that is NOT mine.

  4. Larry says:

Affected by this data breach. Hassles with IDX. Don’t make a mistake on the personal section credit security questions otherwise Transunion puts you in lockout for 29 days with no way to unlock and no way to get your full year back. IDX cannot help you with this issue.. How do I join this class action?

  5. Lawrence Storer Storer says:

    Credit score was effected

  6. Laverne R Poturalski says:

    We were effected by this.

  7. M Yacullo says:

Our Reventics letters dated 6/15/2023 came to each member of my family (spouse + 2 adult children). Interesting that the delay in notification and response mentioned in other comments contrasts with this statement from letter: “Upon detecting the incident, and to mitigate any potential harm, Reventics immediately took action to secure the affected systems and contain the incident” Does that mean that action was or was not taken in December? Curious if anyone has enrolled in their IDX identity theft protection services and if it is legit.

    1. Carolyn A Mitchell says:

Same letter of breech data information received. Count me in.

  9. Stephen L Smith & Denise A Smith says:

My wife and I also received individual letters dated June 9, 2023 from Reventics informing us of the data breaches on or about December 15, 2022 and again on or about March 1, 2023 and on a rolling basis thereafter. We have several concerns regarding this notification. Reventics is offering free 12 months of credit and CyberScan monitoring as their remedy and responsibility for their negligence. They delayed notifying us for almost six months for the first breach, and three months on the second & ongoing breach. We have been unprotected for this entire time. In addition, what’s to stop our data from being compromised after the 12 moths is up? Reventics isn’t accepting any responsibility after that timeframe? You can’t tell me the hackers don’t know this & could conceivably wait the 12 months & then have a hayday! As already stated by someone else, this is unacceptable!

  10. Marcie Filip says:

My parents, who live next door, and I received a letter dated June 7, 2023 indicating our data was included in a data breach that occurred on or about December 15, 2022. It also states “on or about March 1, 2023 and on a rolling basis thereafter, Reventics became aware that additional data may have been compromised.” So it seems they not only waited more than 6 months to notify us of the breach, but they’re also continuing to experience such infiltration of their network! Totally unacceptable. I would like to be included in the class action. Thank you for your time and attention.
