CommScope data breach $440K class action settlement

CommScope agreed to pay $440,000 to resolve claims it failed to prevent a 2023 CommScope data breach that compromised employee information.

The settlement benefits U.S. residents who received a data breach notification from CommScope informing them of a data breach incident discovered in March 2023.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim the company failed to protect employees from a March 26, 2023, data breach. According to the complaint, the CommScope data breach compromised Social Security numbers, protected health information, financial account data and more.

CommScope is a communication technology company that manufactures and installs hardware and software for communication infrastructure.

CommScope hasn’t admitted wrongdoing but agreed to a $440,000 settlement to resolve the class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the CommScope data breach settlement, class members can receive three years of credit monitoring services, compensation for up to $10,000 in unreimbursed economic losses and compensation for up to six hours of lost time paid at a rate of $25 per hour. 

Instead of these benefits, class members can choose to receive an estimated flat-rate payment of $100.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 24, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the CommScope data breach settlement is scheduled for July 24, 2024.

Class members must submit a valid claim form by July 19, 2024, to receive settlement benefits.
