Google and AdMob agreed to pay $8.25 million to resolve claims that they violated federal and state laws by collecting, using and disclosing personal information from children under 13 years old without parental consent.
The Google settlement benefits individuals who were younger than 13 years old when they downloaded or otherwise used an application from Google Play between April 1, 2015, and the present.
According to the class action lawsuit, Google and AdMob violated the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by collecting, using and disclosing personal information from children without parental consent. The plaintiffs claim that Play Store apps collected information from children and sent it to Google and AdMob.
Google offers a variety of apps and services, while AdMob is a mobile advertising platform owned by Google.
Google and AdMob have not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $8.25 million class action settlement to resolve the COPPA class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Google settlement, class members can receive a cash payment.
Class members who submit a valid claim will receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on the number of valid claims filed with the settlement. No payment estimates are available at this time. Claim forms must be submitted and e-signed by the settlement class member or their parent or legal guardian.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 4, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the Google Play class action settlement is scheduled for Sept. 24, 2026.
To receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 14, 2026.

Thank you for keeping me informed I’ve just graduated from college and have not found a job yet and these checks help pay a bill every month.
