Wyeth Premarin, Prempro & Premphase HRT Class Action Lawsuit Certified

By Kimberly Mirando

Premarin HRTA federal judge has certified a class action lawsuit concerning the prescription HRT medications Premarin, Prempro and Premphase – all manufactured by Wyeth. California residents who purchased the hormone replacement therapies between 1995 and 2003 have until December 19, 2012 to decide if they wish to remain in the class action lawsuit.

The Wyeth HRT class action lawsuit accuses the pharmaceutical giant of violating California laws by misrepresenting the benefits and/or failing to disclose the risks of the prescription hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medications Premarin, Prempro and Premphase.

Class Members of the Wyeth HRT class action lawsuit include all California residents who purchased the drugs in California between January 1995 and January 2003 and were exposed to oral or written statements from Wyeth or from a healthcare provider, or written statements in publications, in which it was represented that:

— Premarin, Prempro and/or Premphase lowered cardiovascular, Alzheimer’s and/or dementia risk; or
— Premarin, Prempro and/or Premphase did not increase breast cancer risk.

Class Members do not need to do anything to stay in the class action lawsuit. However, Class Members that do not want to be legally bound by what the Court does must exclude themselves from the case by December 19, 2012.

Wyeth denies it did anything wrong and the class action lawsuit is headed to trial. Oftentimes, before a class action lawsuit makes it to trial, a class action settlement may be reached.

I have been diagnosed two times with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy in 2011. Took hormone therapy from 1983 – 2002. No breast cancer in my family, I was the first. I would like to know more on the Prempro HRT, class action suit. Thanks, Linda Lewis

  2. Linda Johnson says:

Premarin was prescribed for me after having a total hysterectomy. I now have Breast Cancer with no family history of breast cancer or surgery. I would like to register to the class action suit.

  3. Emma Wall says:

I has a hysterectomy when I was approx 33 and was prescribed Premarin. I took it until just a couple of years ago. I am now 67 and have an enlarged liver and spleen. Since I don’t drink there doesn’t seem to be a reason for these problems.

  4. Emma Wall says:

I am 67 and had a hysterectomy at approx 34 years of age. I was on Premarin for many, many years. I have recently developed an enlarged liver and spleen. Since I don’t drink, they can find no reason for these problems.

  5. Jackie M Schulz says:

Was initially prescribed premarin/provera by gynecologist, then switched to prempro when it came out. Took for apx. 15 years. When first cancer scare hit news, went to doctor and was told I had more chance of being hit be a truck, than getting breast cancer from the hrt. I stopped it cold turkey in early 2000s. In 2009 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, underwent surgery to remove it, had radiation, and am presently still taking oral chemo for a total of five years.

  6. Laura Dalton says:

I am 56 years young and I have been on prempro since it first hit the shelves. I went through the change of life at an early age of 38 years old. I had pancreatic cancer at age 49 and had part of my pancreas removed with the surgery. I am cancer free as of date but can not help but think maybe all those years on prempro had something to do with my cancer. No breast cancer as of yet.

  7. verla chafey says:

I was told by my doctor after he went to a seminar on prempro it was the greatest thing for women. He started me on it when it first hit the shelves. I stopped it cold Turkey when I read it caused heart problems and breast cancer, there isn’t any types of cancer in my family, last year on may 2012 I was told I had breast cancer I had three operations on my right breast, had chemo, radition, the last treatment was Nov 4 2012, just had another pet scan to see if the cancer is gone.

evening of Primrose, etc. Ended up in the hospital with a heart rate of 220, I have the medical re cords. Had to stop and restart my heart on three different occaisions in the ER and I had a breast cancer scare, but it turned out to be a cyst. Now I’m recovering from Squamous Cell Carcenoma. The treatment was brutal.
