Wyeth Premarin, Prempro & Premphase HRT Class Action Lawsuit Certified

By Kimberly Mirando

Premarin HRTA federal judge has certified a class action lawsuit concerning the prescription HRT medications Premarin, Prempro and Premphase – all manufactured by Wyeth. California residents who purchased the hormone replacement therapies between 1995 and 2003 have until December 19, 2012 to decide if they wish to remain in the class action lawsuit.

The Wyeth HRT class action lawsuit accuses the pharmaceutical giant of violating California laws by misrepresenting the benefits and/or failing to disclose the risks of the prescription hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medications Premarin, Prempro and Premphase.

Class Members of the Wyeth HRT class action lawsuit include all California residents who purchased the drugs in California between January 1995 and January 2003 and were exposed to oral or written statements from Wyeth or from a healthcare provider, or written statements in publications, in which it was represented that:

— Premarin, Prempro and/or Premphase lowered cardiovascular, Alzheimer’s and/or dementia risk; or
— Premarin, Prempro and/or Premphase did not increase breast cancer risk.

Class Members do not need to do anything to stay in the class action lawsuit. However, Class Members that do not want to be legally bound by what the Court does must exclude themselves from the case by December 19, 2012.

Wyeth denies it did anything wrong and the class action lawsuit is headed to trial. Oftentimes, before a class action lawsuit makes it to trial, a class action settlement may be reached.

I took Prempro for approx. 9 years and was diagnosed with breast cancer in June of 2015. Went through a lumpectomy and radiation treatments. I would love to join a class action lawsuit.

I took premarin after having a hysterectomy. In Jan. 2009 I found that I had permanent blood clot damage to both of my kidneys and spleen. I now have to take blood thiners and be checked on a regular basis and will have to do so for the rest of my life. Are there any lawsuits that would cover this.

  3. Pam Pope says:

  4. Glenda Blankenship says:

I had a complete hysterectomy about 1998. I was put on Premarin. …2 years ago found out I had breast cancer. 100 % estrogen related. I quit Premarin immediately. Had a double mastectomy. I know my cancer was from the Premarin, no family history of breast cancer. I would like my name added to the class action suit. Premarin was being handed to me like candy.
