Walmart Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes Potential Recall Overview:

  • Who: There have been reports of a potential recall of Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes.
  • Why: There is no official recall notice, and while rumors of toxic metal contamination are unfounded, parents have found issues with the product.
  • Where: The Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes are sold in Walmart stores nationwide.

Social media rumors have swirled in the past week regarding a potential recall of Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes despite neither Walmart nor the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) publicly issuing an official recall or statement.

However, a statement from Walmart emailed to the Miami Herald on May 3 says, “Walmart proactively removed select lot numbers of Parents Choice baby wipes from stores due to a quality issue. We are working closely with the supplier and FDA to investigate the issue. Customers may return the product to any Walmart store for a refund.”

The Miami Herald reports that according to an alleged product removal notice sent to Walmart stores that has been posted on social media and parent forums, at least 18 lots with Lot Nos. L22075-L22085 and L22089-L22095 of Parent’s Choice Unscented wipes and Scented wipes are part of the recall.

Reports of Toxic Metal Contamination of Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes Unfounded

The rumor originated with a product removal alert dated April 28, 2022, that was shared to Twitter two days later, according to Snopes.

The post reads,” “An email with the subject line “Dept. 79 UPDATE — Nice-Pak Products – Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes” said that a message was sent to all Walmart stores on April 25 to “remove specific lot numbers of the Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes and to send those specific lots to Return Centers.”

Concerned parents then allegedly spread the information on various social media sites and parenting forums. However, it seems the information became distorted, as one user who posted in an online forum hosted by Baby Center claimed that the “wipes are causing an orange color that doesn’t come off and burns” that are due to “exposure of metals like arsenic and mercury.”

There have been no confirmed reports of toxic metal contamination, Snopes says.

Walmart is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions will follow this story closely as it receives more information.

In 2014, Walmart was hit with a class action lawsuit by an Alabama woman over baby wipes and other Simply Right products sold at Sam’s Club stores that were recalled for causing a bacterial infection, which allegedly made the woman ill.

  1. Kristina Mullican says:

Please add me. I went through t o boxes of wipes with two different lot numbers that were recalled. I still have the box with one of the recalled lot numbers and a partial wipes bag left from another recalled lot number. The wipes would turn an orange brown color and while using them I developed a pelvic infection. Im concerned this may be connected to the recall but can’t find any information. Thank you

I have an entire case, the exposed wipes are totally discolored. My daughter, my grandchildren and I were all effected. Sore bum, rash, orange bum, orange hands . Not good

Please add me. I have used these wipes for years. I noticed an orange discoloration on my son a few months back. I had initially thought it was his new pull ups. I hadn’t even considered the wipes since like I said, I’ve used them for years. Changed pull ups and it didn’t get any better. I then notice an orange coloring on my right hand as well. And I had used a wipe to wipe his belly off which turn orange also. That’s what got me thinking about the wipes. I Googled it and was flabbergasted with what I have found. How dare Walmart not make a statement notifying parents who have purchased these. Instead, they continued to let use put our children at risk. How selfish and greedy of them.

  4. Jessa says:

We just bought a huge box to save money. My son started developing a rash. I stopped using them ans and rash is subsiding.
No colors but I also am not going to continue to find out. Hoping to get my money back and that they fix what is going on. Sticking to water and wash cloths for now. Can’t trust anything these days.

  5. Stanzi C says:

Please add me! I have bought almost every variation of these wipes. This is appalling.

  6. Chelsea Wilson says:

My hands are legit brown. My son and I have been sick with what seemed like a head cold and have been using these wipes to blow our nose. Whatever it is Im pretty pissed off, especially since we get no info as to what to do and these wipes are advertised as 99% water and plant-based. Who knows if this isn’t something that was a risk the whole time just finally got caught due to the staining.

  8. Diana Urban says:

Please add me. I purchased the sensitive one, fragrant free and cucumber. The cucumber one has been turning things an orange-brown color. I

  9. Dana says:

I’ve been using this product for years, I use it to clean our floors and our counters so that we are not using toxic chemicals I started noticing a couple weeks ago that everything was orangie brown and I couldn’t figure it out I thought maybe it was pollution I did know what it was now I found out it was this, it’s disgusting. I just I hate Walmart. I am very concerned as my daughter has used these to clean her bathroom and the floors and my pets have walked over the floors and of course lick their paws and clean themselves so I am very concerned of the long-term effects please add me to the list I hope Walmart gets sued I hope this becomes class action lawsuit they’re horrible can’t believe they wouldn’t even remove this product and they still sell it, shame on Walmart. Oh and I also used it on my face before discovering this and was wondering why my face was burning.

  10. Jessica says:

This is terrifying, I’ve gone through nearly 8 packs of sensitive care wipes with a recalled lot number. I went to buy more the other day and thought they were discontined but come to find out it’s a recall. I haven’t had any rashes or symptoms, including the orange color, but still, this is horrible.
