Walmart Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes Potential Recall Overview:

  • Who: There have been reports of a potential recall of Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes.
  • Why: There is no official recall notice, and while rumors of toxic metal contamination are unfounded, parents have found issues with the product.
  • Where: The Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes are sold in Walmart stores nationwide.

Social media rumors have swirled in the past week regarding a potential recall of Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes despite neither Walmart nor the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) publicly issuing an official recall or statement.

However, a statement from Walmart emailed to the Miami Herald on May 3 says, “Walmart proactively removed select lot numbers of Parents Choice baby wipes from stores due to a quality issue. We are working closely with the supplier and FDA to investigate the issue. Customers may return the product to any Walmart store for a refund.”

The Miami Herald reports that according to an alleged product removal notice sent to Walmart stores that has been posted on social media and parent forums, at least 18 lots with Lot Nos. L22075-L22085 and L22089-L22095 of Parent’s Choice Unscented wipes and Scented wipes are part of the recall.

Reports of Toxic Metal Contamination of Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes Unfounded

The rumor originated with a product removal alert dated April 28, 2022, that was shared to Twitter two days later, according to Snopes.

The post reads,” “An email with the subject line “Dept. 79 UPDATE — Nice-Pak Products – Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes” said that a message was sent to all Walmart stores on April 25 to “remove specific lot numbers of the Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes and to send those specific lots to Return Centers.”

Concerned parents then allegedly spread the information on various social media sites and parenting forums. However, it seems the information became distorted, as one user who posted in an online forum hosted by Baby Center claimed that the “wipes are causing an orange color that doesn’t come off and burns” that are due to “exposure of metals like arsenic and mercury.”

There have been no confirmed reports of toxic metal contamination, Snopes says.

Walmart is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions will follow this story closely as it receives more information.

In 2014, Walmart was hit with a class action lawsuit by an Alabama woman over baby wipes and other Simply Right products sold at Sam’s Club stores that were recalled for causing a bacterial infection, which allegedly made the woman ill.

My 16mth son had high fevers for 4-5days. Was seen by 3 different doctors, tested negative for covid, flu and RSV. He ended up in the ER for a fever of 105. Then I found out today, that Parents choice wipes were recalled. I checked the lot numbers and they matched the recall wipes. I’m not happy with Walmart….

      1. Lyn says:

I keep getting reinfected with a cold and I believe it’s due to the baby wipes. In fact it’s the same lot number they have recalled. And the baby wipes turn brown like someone crapped on them when they are exposed to the air

  10. Sheila Brown says:
