Walmart Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes Potential Recall Overview:

  • Who: There have been reports of a potential recall of Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes.
  • Why: There is no official recall notice, and while rumors of toxic metal contamination are unfounded, parents have found issues with the product.
  • Where: The Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes are sold in Walmart stores nationwide.

Social media rumors have swirled in the past week regarding a potential recall of Walmart Parent’s Choice baby wipes despite neither Walmart nor the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) publicly issuing an official recall or statement.

However, a statement from Walmart emailed to the Miami Herald on May 3 says, “Walmart proactively removed select lot numbers of Parents Choice baby wipes from stores due to a quality issue. We are working closely with the supplier and FDA to investigate the issue. Customers may return the product to any Walmart store for a refund.”

The Miami Herald reports that according to an alleged product removal notice sent to Walmart stores that has been posted on social media and parent forums, at least 18 lots with Lot Nos. L22075-L22085 and L22089-L22095 of Parent’s Choice Unscented wipes and Scented wipes are part of the recall.

Reports of Toxic Metal Contamination of Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes Unfounded

The rumor originated with a product removal alert dated April 28, 2022, that was shared to Twitter two days later, according to Snopes.

The post reads,” “An email with the subject line “Dept. 79 UPDATE — Nice-Pak Products – Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes” said that a message was sent to all Walmart stores on April 25 to “remove specific lot numbers of the Parent’s Choice Baby Wipes and to send those specific lots to Return Centers.”

Concerned parents then allegedly spread the information on various social media sites and parenting forums. However, it seems the information became distorted, as one user who posted in an online forum hosted by Baby Center claimed that the “wipes are causing an orange color that doesn’t come off and burns” that are due to “exposure of metals like arsenic and mercury.”

There have been no confirmed reports of toxic metal contamination, Snopes says.

Walmart is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions will follow this story closely as it receives more information.

In 2014, Walmart was hit with a class action lawsuit by an Alabama woman over baby wipes and other Simply Right products sold at Sam’s Club stores that were recalled for causing a bacterial infection, which allegedly made the woman ill.

My daughter has had a diaper rash on and off like crazy. The only thing we haven’t changed was the wipes. My friend brought her daughter over who doesn’t use this brand. Literally one use. One wipe. And she broke out also!!

This morning me and my boyfriend woke up with dark orange hands and nothing would take it off we kinda freaked out because we didn’t know what caused it later on that day my 2 year old son kept grabbing his private part and crying that something was bugging him so I checked him and I noticed he was all dark orange down there and I got scared and went to check out the wipes and went straight to the internet and read all kinds of stories about these wipes. I called my Walmart and they said yea we know we’ve been getting a lot of calls with complaints about peoples skin turning orange we can give u a refund if your not happy with ur purchase. They know about the situation but yet all the shelves are still filled with these wipes and are still being sold online. This is a product for babies these wipes have to be recalled as soon as possible.

I had orange/burning palms that started out of the blue and I was so scared I contacted my doctor and they couldn’t figure it out. Then I noticed my son’s diaper area had a darker brown area and the wipe was be orange when I wiped. Our second appointment at the doctor and she said she had someone the day before with the same thing. I’m furious that there’s still no answers as to what we have been rubbing on our babies!!! How to we get a class action started??

I have a doctors appointment scheduled tomorrow for my toddler. He has had a rash for 2 weeks and after trying everything, including stopping the use of these wipes two days ago, it’s still not better. I thought it was related to teething but after seeing this information, I’m afraid it’s a chemical burn of sorts which is why nothing I have tried has worked.

I noticed about a week ago that there was a strange dark brown staining on my son. It was hard to notice even though he’s light skinned. Every time I’d wipe him there would be burnt orange marks on the wipe. Bathing didn’t get rid of it, only hard scrubbing got some of it off, but that’s not something you want to have to do to a baby. I thought it could have been his diapers or maybe he was sweating and getting grimey. I didn’t suspect the wipes because I’ve been using them for years, and I didn’t see how they would cause a residue on his skin. It’s very upsetting Walmart hasn’t made an official statement on it, and I would like to know what exactly the residue is.

I have been using these since Huggies sky rocked I use for my elderly mom. I’ve had no problem yet in ky but I have proof I bought mine at Walmart. Com online. Seems everything is going bad. Nouthing is safe not even baby stuff. So scary

I’ve been using Parent’s Choice Fresh Scent for over 2 years. Two packs in the box we bought seemed fine. My hand was stained orange on 4/27. I had literally no idea why so I contacted my doctor. He had no clue why. That evening, I opened another pack of wipes and they turned orange after wiping my newborn and toddler. Both started getting the orange stains. It mostly affected my toddler. Her’s turned dark orange and brown and stayed that way. I contacted the pediatrician who said she had seen a case of it a few weeks ago and searched endlessly for a reason. The moment my daughter started saying “ouch” and grabbing her diaper area and thighs is when I called Poison Control. They had no insight except possible contamination in the wipes or too much of an ingredient (defective). They did give me an email to send pictures for them. Needless to say, we returned the wipes and bought Pampers. It’s unsettling to know that clearly there is something wrong with the wipes and no official statement has been made. I thought I was alone with these issues until others shared their stories. I hope we have answers soon!
