RCI Points Program Class Action Settlement

By Sarah Pierce

RCI settlementTimeshare company RCI, LLC has reached a class action lawsuit settlement over allegations it improperly rented timeshare inventory to non-members. If you participated in RCI’s Points Exchange Program, you may be eligible to file a claim for a cash payment.

The RCI settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, entitled Glenz v. RCI, that alleges RCI rented certain timeshare inventory deposited by members of the RCI Point Exchange Program to non-members, rather than make that inventory available for exchange solely for members.

RCI denies it did anything wrong, but has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the litigation.

Class Members of the RCI points program settlement include all U.S. residents who were members of the RCI Points Exchange Program, either directly or through a vacation club, on or before April 25, 2012.

Class Members of the RCI class action lawsuit settlement will receive one of the following cash benefits, as long as they submit a valid claim form by the deadline of August 24, 2012:

(1) Current RCI Point Exchange Program members will receive a $12 cash payment;
(2) Former RCI Point Exchange Program members will receive a $10 cash payment.

Claim forms and more information on your rights in the RCI Points Program Class Action Settlement are available at www.PointsProgramSettlement.com.

Detailed instructions on how to file a valid claim for the RCI class action settlement can be found in our Open Lawsuit Settlements section.

    what a scam!!! We upgraded with Celebration Resort in Orlando,Fl last May 2011 for 210,000 pts bi-annual, plus 3 3week vacation certificate a year. When 2012 rolled around we were told by Celebration Resort (now a Festiva Resort) that our contract was not legal but in fact a fraud! We will not receive the points!!!! or the vacation certificates, Ever!!!! We paid big bucks and Celebration, Festiva, RCI nor the legal firm that handled the deed wants anything to do with this. All we get is a runaround. No one is taking responsibility for this nor do they care!!! Mike Sills was the salesman @ Celebration and he should be hung by his you know whats!!!!

    We “upgraded” for week 53 and were suppose to get 75,500 points each leap year for the rest of the time. We got the extra 75,500 points in 2007 when we upgraded and when this leap year rolled around we did not get our extra points. They claimed they mailed us a letter and called. When I requested a copy of the letter then they said they did not send out a letter. We never got a call to pay extra maintenance fees. We feel like the home resort Summer Bay in Florida cheated us and their sales people lied to us. I informed RCI about all this but we have not gotten our money back or given the extra 75,500 points.

    I too feel the same way.. they con you by offering extras to appeal your interest, but WATCH OUT FOR ALL THE SELLS PITCH, DON’T FALL FOR IT !
    I was offered a trip to Hawaii, three days durning the week by the way. They make it sound like you can choose NO CHANCE! As I continued giving my dates Month after Mo. a year has passed, now the inform me I’m on top of the list and we now have to book you in a year from now Next May 2013, No refund. Oh they ask for $100.00 as soon as you try to redeem your trip.
    On top of this there is NEVER A TIME SHARE AVAILABLE, especially with the LAST CALL! I FINELY BOOK A TRIP TWO YEARS LATER… BOOKING ALMOST A YEAR IN ADVANCE… There was only one full week available other then IN THE OFF SEASON. NOW I UNDER STAND WHATS GOING ON… BUMMER! SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT.

    We were scammed and cheated, could use the points when we wanted and have to pay out money that we were told would never happen. The Settlement of the class action suit is a joke, we lost points and accrued additional monetary charges. When you consider all expenses the points were misrepresented by RCI and the staff. We reject the Settlement, we want our initial money’s refunded and Florida should make it a reality for all who were scammed.

    We purchased the points time share in Kissiminee Florida and was promised the banking of points to next year, the ability to use points for air fare car rental and exchange availability any where. They are liars and I would like the State of Florida Attorney General to allow people who were scammed as we were to get back our initial investment as it was fraudulent action by the sales representatives and the company. We were not allowed to use the 75000 points all in the same year for several years and even lost points. We now are back to 75000 points usage but we are having to pay out pocket cash plus points, we were told this would never happen, maybe tax fee only. We were really taken advantage of and I don’t want to be part of this shady establishment.

    Each time we called to try and use our timeshare we were told all the rooms were full.

    There was nothing available when we wanted to use our time share
