PetArmor & PetArmor Plus Class Action Lawsuit

By Sarah Pierce

PetArmor PlusPet owners have filed yet another class action lawsuit against another manufacturer of popular over-the-counter flea and tick products, claiming their pets died after using the products.

Parent companies FidoPharm and Velcera have been hit with a class action lawsuit claiming their PetArmor and PetArmor Plus “spot-on” flea and tick products are unsafe. They join a growing list of companies being sued for not properly labeling their “spot-on” flea and tick products as being potentially dangerous to pets, including the makers of “Frontline,” “K9 Advantix,” “Advantage,” Hartz “Ultraguard” and Sergeant’s line of flea and tick products. [See “Flea & Tick Products False Advertising Class Action Lawsuit.”]

“Spot-on” flea and tick products are neurotoxin pesticides placed directly on the skin of millions of household dogs and cats across the U.S. These products generally do not say in their advertising, marketing or EPA-mandated labeling that they can cause death or other serious side-effects, including paralysis, seizures and skin lesions. As a result, most consumers are unaware that they are putting their pets at risk when applying these products.

The EPA has received over 75,000 complaints since 2008 regarding “spot-on” flea and tick products, but nothing has been done yet to force these companies to correct their advertising and labeling and to alert pet owners about the possible dangerous side-effects. As a result, pet owners are increasingly turning to legal means to rectify the situation by filing “spot-on” flea and tick product class action lawsuits.

The PetArmor and PetArmor Plus class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all purchasers of PetArmor and PetArmor Plus products for dogs and cats between September 15, 2005 and the present who incurred economic damages as a result of not using the remaining unsafe product they purchased.

The PetArmor class action lawsuit is accusing Fidopharm, Velcera and Wal-Mart, where the products are sold, of breach of express warranty, breach of implied warranty of merchantability, unjust enrichment, and violation of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, and Common Law Fraud.

The PetArmor Flea & Tick Product Class Action Lawsuit is styled Frost, et al. v. FidoPharm, Inc.; Velcera, Inc.; and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Case No. 11-cv-06976, U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey.

  4. Sarah Richards says:

Is this case still going on? On Sunday 4/2/23 I gave my dachshund a bath with this poison not knowing how horrific it was. Today 4/4/23 when I got home from work at 9:3am, he appeared to be setting in rigor mortis. Fortunately he hadn’t passed, however we have had him in multiple vets offices today and he is spending the night in the ER. Please pray for my baby!!

  5. Tina Allen says:

I agree. I used this and in two time frame my just 6 year lab has facial paralysis AND seizures. The university did a MRI and spinal tap. No brain tumors and is being said there’s no medical reason this is happening until I mentioned this flea medicine. He is a bigger dog so took a while to a=have adverse reactions to it. He will be on seizure medication for the ret of his life. Only time will tell if the face paralysis will get better. He cant blink either eye and his entire mouth is drooping making it hard to eat. My poor poor boy. I feel so bad for him. Not to mention the over 5500! vet bills

  6. Olivia Harlow says:

We gave the pet armor 7 way deowrmed for puppies 6-25 lbs to our 30 lbs four month old puppy. He became super lethargic, had a cough, was throwing up and had a few bursts of diarreah, two days later he passed away and we had to take him to get cremated

    1. Cody Dauby says:

Let’s not forget to mention the fact that they said oh it can’t be our product we are fda approved and said that if we wanted to be reimbursed for vet bills they probably won’t

    2. Devonte says:

This exactly what happened to my dog

  7. Michele says:

4 yr old shizhu, Budward, became very lethargic all day, started having a cough, so did my room mate. I had a sore throat. After the cough Budward couldn’t sleep more than 4 seconds without his head popping up and arms twitching. Fell over while sitting.Took collar off and washed him. Better after a second bath later. He slept all night. Had collar on 2 days previously. Only thing that was new to him was the collar. My heart aches for anyone who lost their beloved dog or cat. How could you know, it happens so fast.

  8. Samantha says:

I used the PetArmor Plus Flea and Tick on my 13 year old Miniature Schnauzer and 3 1/2 year old Jack Russell mix on Saturday. My Jack Russell mix has had zero reactions. However, this morning my 13 year old miniature schnauzer (who acts like a young pup still) woke me up by hitting my face with his paw. Shortly after he fell over on my bed, foaming at the mouth, and soon began convulsing. He had a seizure for over 5 minutes. For over 2 hours after this incident, he was having tremors and still shaking. I rinsed his body and have kept a watchful eye on him all day. I will never use this flea and tick preventative again.

    1. Harry A Sebree says:

My dog’s name is Daisy I used to Pet Armor flea and tick on both my dogs and we both got sick when I was okay but the female she knows blind and one eye has seizures when this happened she would lock up like she died but now at least we got hopefully got the seizures under control but they don’t want to do nothing about it they say it’s not their product caused it

  9. Marilyn McKee says:

How do I get in on this class action lawsuit with Pet Armor Plus? My dog had 3 seizures in 30 hours after being given treatment. Very angry! This product needs to be pulled from the market! No animal should ever suffer again!

    1. Tina Allen says:

I would like to know the answer to your question. I am so angry I bought the pet Armor plus for My dog at Walmart. After 6000 in vet bills my poor boy is left with seizures and facial paralysis on both sides. I so hope he can pull through this. Doubtful he’ll ever be the same again. Before he was a happy energetic loving family pet.

    2. Samantha says:

Did you find how to join? I have this to my dog and she died the next day :(

      1. Maria Lepore says:

My dog Sparky has severe burns on his back due to liquid flee and tick medication by PetArmor. I have vet bills and pictures to prove it.

  10. Kierra Harris says:

My dog my BABYs name is ZOEY SHE IS 7 years old I’ve had her since 2.5 months old! her birthday was just this may. Shes a tiny chiweenie and weighs just 7 pounds and is currently sporting a chemical burn necklace! From pet armor plus flea and tick collar for small dogs. Noticed she was desperately scratching at the collar and figured oh must be fleas! Boy was I wrong! Upon inspection a week later she is missing large patches of fur and has nasty leaky chemical burns! Applied collar July 16th 20201 taken off July 23rd 2021 weekend. I’m so upset at how uncomfortable she is! My poor baby and best friend is currently suffering because of this product!
