onglyzaOnglyza, a popular diabetes drug, has been linked with a series of serious side effects.

Onglyza users have left a number of complaints about Onglyza side effects on various online platforms, reporting everything from mild side effects to severe complications.

Recent user complaints include weight gain, dry eyes, debilitating headaches, skin rashes, abdominal pain, and leg pain.

One dissatisfied Onglyza user reports that the drug caused severe dehydration, as well as a dramatic swelling in her feet. The user’s doctor took her off the medication altogether because of these side effects.

A few reviewers note that the drug did not mix well with other medications they were already taking, causing more severe complications.

Some reviewers report more serious side effects, including diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. One reviewer writes that his wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer only months after taking Onglyza for the first time.

Onglyza Background

Onglyza (generic name saxagliptin) is manufactured by AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb, and was approved to treat type 2 diabetes by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2009.

Onglyza is one of several new drugs known as incretin mimetics. These drugs mimic the body’s creation of natural incretin hormones, which helps to regulate insulin and control blood sugar levels.

Since it was introduced to the market in 2009, sales of Onglyza and other incretin mimetics have only been rising. Onglyza is in widespread use all over the country.

Onglyza Pancreatic Cancer

However, Onglyza and other similar diabetes drugs have been linked with some severe side effects, including pancreatic cancer.

According to recent reports, however, some doctors are concerned with the diabetes drug’s link to pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer initially has very few detectable symptoms, which means that patients are often left undiagnosed for a long time, only to be diagnosed during the later stages of the disease.

Late-stage cancer of any kind is generally much more difficult to treat, and comes along with a much worse prognosis.

Onglyza Lawsuits

The FDA has responded to reports of this Onglyza pancreatic cancer link by warning drug manufacturers to alert the public and medical community about the risk of pancreatic cancer via their warning labels.

Some consumers have responded by filing lawsuits, alleging that the drug’s manufacturers either knew or should have known about the increased risk of pancreatic cancer and other side effects associated with Onglyza.

Onglyza lawsuits claim that AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb failed to adequately inform the public and the medical community about the heightened risk of pancreatic cancer associated with Onglyza. Had they been aware of this risk, plaintiffs claim, they would have chosen a safer alternative.

A lawsuit cannot fix the physical or emotional damage of pancreatic cancer and other serious side effects, but it can help with the financial losses from medical bills and lost wages. If you have suffered from serious Onglyza side effects after using Onglyza, such as pancreatic cancer, you may be able to file a lawsuit.

In general, Onglyza lawsuits are filed individually by each plaintiff and are not class actions.
