
South Central Bank agreed to a $2.8 million class action settlement to resolve claims it charged unfair overdraft fees.
The South Central Bank settlement benefits individuals who were charged APSN fees between Oct. 4, 2009, and Oct. 8, 2018, or retry fees between Oct. 4, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2025.
According to the class action lawsuit, South Central Bank charged multiple overdraft fees on transactions that had sufficient funds and charged repeat overdraft fees on transactions that had previously been returned for insufficient funds. These insufficient funds fees allegedly violated the Kentucky Consumer Protection Act.
South Central Bank is a community bank with locations in Kentucky and Tennessee.
South Central Bank has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2.8 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations.
Under the terms of the South Central Bank settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the amount they paid in overdraft fees during the class period.
Class members who paid a higher amount in fees will receive a larger share of the settlement fund. Exact payments will vary.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 17, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the South Central Bank settlement is scheduled for July 7, 2026.
No claim form is required to benefit from the South Central Bank class action settlement. Class members who do not exclude themselves will automatically receive settlement benefits.
