Lipozene False Advertising Class Action Lawsuit

By Mike Holter

LipozeneA federal class action lawsuit is claiming the Obesity Research Institute is pushing its “Lipozene” products with bogus claims that they are “safe and effective” weight loss products “clinically proven to reduce body fat.”

“In reality, Lipozene’s main ingredient, Glucomannan, is simply a water-soluble dietary fiber with no ability to cause weight loss or the reduction of body fat. Defendant’s statements about the Product’s efficacy are false and misleading, and the research relied upon by Defendant does not substantiate its claims,” the Lipozene class action lawsuit states.

The false advertising lawsuit cites several studies that conclude Glucomannan has no effect on weight loss when compared to a placebo, and that it would take 20 to 30 grams of Glucomannan a day to achieve substantial weight loss, “enough to cause severe diarrhea and other gastrointestinal distress.”

The Lipozene class action lawsuit is seeking $5 million in damages and restitution for a class of all U.S. persons who purchased Lipozene from a retail location in California or online at any time after April 1, 2011 through the date of trial.

The case is Martin Conde v. Obesity Research Institute, LLC, 12-cv-0413 RSWL (RZx), U.S. District court, Central District of California.

I ordered from a TV commercial. The receipt had the date that the product shipped and I was told that is the date for the 30 day trail and could not get my money back – 30 day money back guarantee! really!!!. I took it for almost 3 weeks and I didn’t lose even 1 pound. I was physically ill on a few occasions and could see it was just an expanding jell. The claims on TV are totally false!!! I’d like to add my name to the class action law suit!

  4. Anonymous says:

I picked up 2 packages of Lipozene at Walgreens in hopes of reducing body fat. No such luck. Have lost no body fat or weight.

  5. Brenda McMinn says:

I wish I had hung up on their recordings that, as Jeff said, won’t take no for an answer. I’ve spent $150 on Lipozine which would have been worth it to me if only it worked. They make sure they get your credit card information shortly after the beginning of all the bs. How can I add my name to the class action law suit?

  6. debbie miller says:

it w does not work at all.

  7. Jay says:

LOL @ all of you. You didn’t do “nothing” to get overweight. You had to work at it. So guess what – you’re gonna need to work at it to lose weight too. Stop complaining. My 9 year old even knows better. Sheesh — the only “magic in a bottle” is beer.

    1. Tonya Berry says:

Screw you, Jay. You don’t know everybody’s situation. I was chemically depressed in my early 20’s and had a hormone imbalance. Later in life now in my 40’s I had stage 4 endometrial cancer. My oncologist told me, “If you want to live, you’ll lose the weight”. Well I ride my bike 9 miles to college and back every day and I swim a mile and a half a week. I’m a breakfast and lunch vegetarian and I don’t eat junk food. I eat my 5 veggies/fruits a day and I drink a gallon of water a day. Am I working hard enough on it for you, Jay? I bought Lipozene because I want to LIVE and am desperate to do anything and everything it takes to lose. By the way —- the weight still isn’t coming off.

  8. Eboni says:

I purchased lipozene @Walmart in GA sometime last year. Not only did it not work I had 2 heart attacks while taking them. Its a waste of time and money.

  9. latoya outerbridge says:

I purchased lipozene @ Walmart in Greenville nc when they had the special two for one the way they advertised it on the TV they said it would work. They said u didn’t have to change anything in ur daily day except taking the pills. Nothing has changed since I have been taking them except fatigue. I still have some pills left from the second bottle I was so desperate to lose the weight, it makes a woman feel so bad every doctors visit Ms Outer bridge ur obese or Ms Outer bridge u still obese. I am a single parent of two and time is not a virtue for me. This is unjust for me if any help please please contact me at my email. Tha

  10. Brandye says:

I didn’t lose any weight while using Lipozene in 2012. I went to the doctor twice because I was experiencing chest pains and diabetic symptoms. My mom just told me I could be experiencing these side effects due to me taking Lipozene. I was unaware of it until now.
