Lipozene False Advertising Class Action Lawsuit

By Mike Holter

LipozeneA federal class action lawsuit is claiming the Obesity Research Institute is pushing its “Lipozene” products with bogus claims that they are “safe and effective” weight loss products “clinically proven to reduce body fat.”

“In reality, Lipozene’s main ingredient, Glucomannan, is simply a water-soluble dietary fiber with no ability to cause weight loss or the reduction of body fat. Defendant’s statements about the Product’s efficacy are false and misleading, and the research relied upon by Defendant does not substantiate its claims,” the Lipozene class action lawsuit states.

The false advertising lawsuit cites several studies that conclude Glucomannan has no effect on weight loss when compared to a placebo, and that it would take 20 to 30 grams of Glucomannan a day to achieve substantial weight loss, “enough to cause severe diarrhea and other gastrointestinal distress.”

The Lipozene class action lawsuit is seeking $5 million in damages and restitution for a class of all U.S. persons who purchased Lipozene from a retail location in California or online at any time after April 1, 2011 through the date of trial.

The case is Martin Conde v. Obesity Research Institute, LLC, 12-cv-0413 RSWL (RZx), U.S. District court, Central District of California.

I secretly sent for it and was going to lose each day; without telling my wife and kida, until they said, “Honey/
Dad — your’re LOSING WEIGHT! We would all celebrate
the DEAR MED. THAT WAS AN ANSWER TO OUR
PRAYERS —LIPOZENE! But, that joy did not come to
pass..I’ve even kept a box to remember — these things
that are promised on late night tv — are mostly lies!!!
    This Is Not O.K. — Mr.Conde, please

I called in an order then in the same call i was inundated with offers to buy other products and the voice controlled program refused to accept my no answersnwhen id speak NO into the phone to say i didnt want anything else sent to me and it went on and on then started in on a wal mart gift card id get and i denied request seven times but it just kept asking me so i hung up. I had no idea what id ordered or not ordered.nwhen i sheard the ad i thoght maybe it wasna real product butnafternthe phone call , which bynthe way wasnall automated it was clear to me this is just another major marketing scam. After i hung up i got their contact number off their website n after 15 mins holding i got thru to a guy whonsaid he had no record of my order. well he did have record of it because when i called back next day to cancel as he toldmme they said the order had already been sent. STOP, if u havent ordered yet then dont do it. Its clearly anothrt damn crook whos in a grey area legally and getting rich selling shit. Makes me so mad if they were close by id go by and throw eggs on them and haul local police in with me to bust their slimy asses. Only in the usa where u have a license to steal in the name of Capitalism. What comes around goes around and this sob has alot coming back around to ruin his life ill assure you of that! I wont stop till i see them on the witness stand stuttering as to why they used such deceptive marketing practices if in fact they had such a good product. They know they have to sell you all they can on that first call because nobody certainly is going to call them back for a product that is full of nothing!,,

I had hoped this would work for my wife to lose weight. I bought it at WalMart for half the price of the website AFTER I had placed the order. When I called to cancel the order, they said “it is already in process and can’t be cancelled.” She took it for a week and was so bloated and sick, she couldn.t take any more. I then found out about the lawsuit.

I bought Lipozene because it was presented in such a way that I really thought it worked, it doesn’t work at all. I’ve spent over a hundred dollars on this product, all for nothing.
