The class action settlement resolves allegations that JPMorgan Chase ran consumer credit reports of former account holders during an Account Review Inquiry.

Under the terms of the settlement, JPMorgan Chase agreed to pay $8.75 million as well as agreed to change their annual auditing for the next three years. The financial institution does not admit to any wrongdoings, they settled to avoid the expense of ongoing litigation.

Class Members included all borrowers or guarantors of a Chase or Chase-serviced account in which their consumer credit information was accessed by Chase through an Account Review Inquiry between Oct. 16, 2009 and Oct. 16, 2014, and at a time when the account met any one of the following criteria:

  • The account was closed with a zero balance
  • The account had been sold or transferred to a third party
  • The debt on the account had been discharged in bankruptcy
  • Chase had foreclosed the property securing the account loan
  • Chase had sold in a short sale or had transferred through a deed in lieu of foreclosure the property securing the account loan

Also never received my check, despite mailing in my claim form on 2/7/16 (prior to the 3/23/16 deadline). Email address, website and phone # listed on the claim form for the Claims Administrator are all no longer valid. I wonder how many $8.93 checks from the 8.75 MILLION DOLLAR Settlement they fraudulently cashed and skipped town with?
