HoMedics TheraP “Magnetic Therapy” Product Class Action Lawsuit

By Kimberly Mirando

HoMedics TheraP wrapA HoMedics customer has filed a class action lawsuit against the wellness products manufacturer for selling TheraP “Magnetic Wave Technology” devices that purport to use the “Power of Magnets” to relieve pain but are actually medically useless.

“HoMedics has defrauded Californians by making blatant and provably false claims to market, advertise, and distribute a line of products labeled and advertised as possessing ‘Magnetic Wave Technology.’ Defendant falsely implies that the magnets have a therapeutic value, when in reality there is no scientific evidence that the magnets are of any therapeutic or any other health-related value,” the HoMedics class action lawsuit states.

Plaintiff Brad Post says he purchased a TheraP Knee Wrap product advertised on HoMedics’ website as containing the “Power of Magnets” and using “Magnetic Wave Therapy” to relive pain, but “the product was useless to him.”

Post says HoMedics makes the same misleading claims for a variety of TheraP Magnetic Wave Technology products, including the TheraP Wrist Wrap, Ankle Wrap and Elbow Wrap.

The belief that magnets can be therapeutic for treating pain is commonly known as “magnetic therapy,” but, according to his class action lawsuit, the National Science Foundation has classified magnetic therapy as “pseudoscience,” or “claims presented so that they appear to be scientific even though they lack supporting evidence and plausibility.”

“According to the National Science Foundation, there is no scientific basis for any belief that ‘magnetic therapy’ is effective in treating pain or any other ailment, and has concluded that ‘magnetic therapy’ has no scientific foundation,” the HoMedics TheraP class action lawsuit says.

The HoMedics class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons in California who purchased any of HoMedics’ TheraP Magnetic Wave Technology Products for personal use at any time within the past four years. It is asking the Court to recover “the many millions of dollars of profits generated by this false and misleading claim.”

The case is Brad Post v. HoMedics, Inc., Case No. RIC 1204417, Superior Court of the State of California, County of Riverside.

Funny, I would never have believed in magnet therapy. I really almost hate people that do – to be honest. But I have a damaged wrist from an old injury and there is always a low level of pain. I was at the thrift store, saw the homedics wrist band and tried it on as a joke. I have to tell you, I had never felt instant relief like that before. I bought if for a dollar and wear it any time I remember (and when no one is looking). It absolutely works. The only reason I found this site is because I was looking if the company actually still sold it’s products.

It’s sad that anyone would try to make money by destroying a company like this. If you really don’t think it works then return the product. Seriously, get a life. lawyers representing this, get a better education and more engaging job.

Using the few magna dots I have left right now to aid in the healing process of my busted knee. Did not know there was a claim out against HoMedics re these magnet products. Been using them for years for minor body ache & pain relief and to speed up healing of back and leg sprains. Works perfectly for me…a more gentler process than the pharmaceutical alternative. What a crock…the suit that is. Hopefully, HoMedics and the entire magnetic therapy movement will be exonerated. What a shame that an unsatisfied customer could bring such inconvenience to many satisfied ones.

l purchase glove and apply it to neck and top of back and my spine and was out of pain right away.My right arm and upper back on right side has been hurting for about 2 weeks and applying the glove for a short time my spine released 3 times opening the spine again. it works.

The magnetic therapy works for me.
Be very careful not to overdo the advertising promises, because immediately the “scientists” take advantage to bring lawsuits.

I have used the Homedics Magnetic Therapy System for leg pain and sciatic pain with extreme success in more than one instance. The pain relief was so remarkable that I purchased a second set when I saw they were not being sold anymore. Recently I had such severe sciatic pain that I could not lie on my side. I placed the magnetic belt on my leg and within hours I was able to lay on my side. I am an engineer and totally believe the magnets relieved my pain. I will gladly testify to this without renumeration.

I have a Homedics ThersP Ankle wrap that I bought when they first came out and whenever my ankle started to bother me I put it on and after a couple of days my ankle was back to normal. So, now my wrap has started to show its age I decided to buy me another and now I’ve learned that they arn’t available. I am very sad to learn this because I loved this product. Now I can only hope and pray that they will put these items back on the market. Shame on the those people who are suing this company.

I bought the Homedics TheraP wristbands and they are the best. I didnt know that there is a lawsuit against the Company. I do hope they stop this nonsence and put those items back on the market.

I just recently started using magnet therapy a few weeks ago. For years I have tried them on several occasions and didn’t notice any results until a few weeks ago. I wore a magnet belt from Homedics on the back of my neck at the base of my head for an hour one day. I was blown away this time! It removed the knots in my muscles where they attach from my spine to the base of my skull. This extreme tension in my neck has been very painful for years, literally! It improved my range of motion to 100%! I have noticed the magnets have also increased my serotonin levels, because I could feel them increasing during the first two days of doing consistent treatment. My sense of wellbeing has increased an enormous amount. I was having overwhelming problems with worrying. It literally removed it near 100%! My breathing has even changed. It use to be very laborious and now it is smooth and fluid. I have always had major congestion in my sinuses and now I can breath through my nose with near 100% clarity. I was in the past, very skeptical about the use of magnets, but now I have had obvious results! I just wasn’t using them properly! There has been no guessing if this is helping me. There is without doubt medical benefits from the use of magnet therapy!!! Skeptics please try again and learn how to use them. They need to be worn for longer periods of time to be effective.

I concur with Simon. The stench of this country’s “Legal” system is overwhelming.

I Have used the Homedics TheraP wristbands and have been delighted with the benefits reducing and irradicating my painful wrists from repetitive strain injury.
I cannot believe that there is a class action against the Company.
