Ford recall overview:

  • Who: Ford is recalling more than 91,000 F-150 trucks from model years 2018-2020.
  • Why: The recall addresses a problem where daytime running lights may not dim properly, potentially reducing visibility for other drivers.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Ford is recalling 91,198 F-150 trucks due to a defect in the daytime running lights, which may not dim as required, posing a risk to other drivers.

The Ford recall was announced on June 18 and affects certain 2018-2020 model year F-150 trucks that were incorrectly repaired under a previous recall in February 2020.

The issue arises when the headlight switch is turned from “Autolamps” to “Headlamps On,” causing the daytime running lights to remain fully bright instead of dimming to parking lamps, as they should.

This defect fails to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, which pertains to lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment.

According to the Ford recall, “Daytime running lamps that do not dim may reduce the visibility of other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.”

Ford to reprogram body control module software of F-150 trucks

Ford is taking corrective measures by offering free reprogramming of the body control module software to ensure compliance with safety standards. The company was expected to mail owner notification letters by July 6.
