Essure-attorneyEssure is a form of permanent, non-hormonal birth control manufactured by Bayer HealthCare. When it was released, women had praised the new contraceptive as an effective measure for permanent birth control, particularly for those who wanted to remain permanently sterile.

However, serious complications have since been brought about by women who have used Essure. These serious complications include allergic reactions, excessive bleeding, organ perforation, pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy, bloating, rashes, and miscarriages.

And according to these alleged accusations against Bayer Healthcare, the women purport that they were not informed of the potential of these serious side effects prior to implantation. Thus, women have sought the services of an Essure attorney to attempt to stop Bayer’s failure to warn of side effects and to seek compensation from the manufacturer for their injuries.

Essure is implanted in a non-surgical procedure and the device itself is made up of polyester and metal coils. These coils are inserted through the vagina and uterus and placed within a woman’s fallopian tubes. Once inserted, tissue starts to form covering and wrapping around the metal coils, thus preventing conception.

Throughout this process and the course of a few months, women are advised to be evaluated by their doctors to ensure the success of the procedure and the effectiveness of the Essure implantation.

The procedure is a non-surgical and it is one for women who want a permanent form of birth control. The Essure implantation has also been touted as a safer substitute for tubal ligation.

According to reports, Essure was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2002. Moreover, the Essure contraceptive was approved by the federal agency through a “fast-track review system,” as the product was viewed as an “alternative to surgical sterilization and had a much faster recovery time.”

However, women are much more troubled about the supposition that Essure was approved before the risks had been properly and sufficiently assessed.

Complications Resulting From Essure Implantation

Complications and increased side effects resulting from Essure implantation have been increasingly reported. Currently, roughly 4,500 adverse event reports have been related to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration pertaining to Essure complications.

Consumer advocate Erin Brockovich has also been involved in leading a campaign to allegedly recall Essure. Thousands of women throughout the United States have reportedly been involved, and they have particularly been contending that Essure should have never received federal approval from the FDA.

The contraceptive device is currently allegedly being lobbied for its removal from U.S. markets.

An Essure Attorney and Essure Birth Control Lawsuits

If you believe that you may have suffered from alleged Essure complications and serious adverse side effects, an Essure attorney may be right for you.

Many women have hired an Essure attorney to file a lawsuit against Bayer pertaining to Essure complications they experienced. These lawsuits have challenged the premarket approval of Essure. And allegedly, the premarket approval of the medical device has been what Bayer is counting on in its arguments against Essure attorney lawsuits.

In general, Essure lawsuits are filed individually by each plaintiff and are not class actions.
