Coca-Cola rewards program class action lawsuit overview:

- Why: Coe claims Coca-Cola runs an unlawful rewards program since it doesn’t offer anything of actual value to consumers.

The Coca-Cola Co. sells products with rewards program codes that do not actually benefit consumers, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiff Glenn Coe claims Coca-Cola’s reward program only allows consumers to donate their accumulated rewards to preselected charities of the company’s choice.
Coe argues Coca-Cola’s reward codes are effectively unlawful “trading stamps” since consumers are unable to actually redeem them for anything of value.
“Defendant continues to sell Coke products with reward codes even though the only benefit is to donate their accumulated value to one of its selected nonprofit groups,” the Coca-Cola class action states.
Coe argues Coca-Cola’s rewards program is marketed “contrary to state law” due to it not having “legibly printed upon (their) face a cash value determined by the company in cents or any fraction thereof.”
Coca-Cola class action claims consumers unable to redeem codes for cash
Due to not having a stated cash value, consumers are unable to redeem the codes for cash when presenting them to the company, the Coca-Cola class action alleges.
“This requirement was designed to prevent customers, like Plaintiff, from being left without any value in the event of their accumulation of non-redeemable reward codes,” the class action states.
Coe claims Coca-Cola is guilty of unjust enrichment, negligent representation and fraud and in violation of multiple state consumer fraud acts, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and New York General Business Law.
Coe wants to represent a New York class and a multistate consumer fraud subclass of individuals who have purchased a Coca-Cola product that came with a rewards code.
He demands a jury trial and requests injunctive relief along with monetary, statutory and/or punitive damages for himself and all class members.
A consumer filed a separate class action against Coca-Cola last month over claims the company failed to properly pay its workers following last year’s hack of Kronos’ timekeeping systems.

Please add? If not possible where do I sign up? Been waiting to hear something for a long while? I have thrown away hundreds of codes for three years! I’m still have a large bag of coke caps that I collected and saved? I believe this is a third party company that took the profits from coke that was to be rewarded to Customers but instead the third party pocketed the profits?!. Another dishonest program!

Yes, I have collected reward codes. I used most of them when I heard the program was to end. But I still have hundreds.
I have been a loyal Coca-Cola customer for most of my adult life. It such a thrill to be able to enter my cap codes and earn Coca-Cola merchandise etc. Then they canceled that excellent rewards program. So, in hopes that program would come back, I kept drinking and saving all the caps. I even used the next program to donate causes. Next we are told the bottle caps are worthless. With the Coca-Cola company making mountains of money, hand over fist, every single year, it’s pitiful to not offer a great program to their loyal customers. I’m 100% there is only a small fraction of bottle cap codes that were ever redeemed. It couldn’t hurt to bring back an up dated original program. Very frustrated and disappointed
I have bags and bags of codes from about 12 years of drinking diet coke daily. It used to be such a good program. I would be able to save up for an “gift.” Though they weren’t enormous, these gifts were very useful and helpful. And now it’s a complete joke and a rip-off! Why would anyone want to take away a rewards program that works for all those involved?
I still have bags & bags of caps, hoping that someday they would restart their reward program. Now I read that as of June 30, 2023 they are worthless. Why are they still issuing codes under the caps. Very frustrated. How do I join the lawsuit?
I used the codes to get things for my chosen. As a single mom, it was helpful. Now I’ve got this bag of caps and codes that make me never want to buy coke products again. They offer you a reward, hence “rewards program”, and don’t follow through. Dishonesty at its finest!
I have saved MANY codes relying on some value being offered to me. We could jave purchased PEPSI, but we chose COKE based on the representation that something of value would be offered in exchange for submitting these many codes. I feel as if I have been taken advantage of or tricked.
