Coca-Cola rewards program class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Glenn Coe filed a class action lawsuit against The Coca-Cola Co.
- Why: Coe claims Coca-Cola runs an unlawful rewards program since it doesn’t offer anything of actual value to consumers.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in New York federal court.
The Coca-Cola Co. sells products with rewards program codes that do not actually benefit consumers, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiff Glenn Coe claims Coca-Cola’s reward program only allows consumers to donate their accumulated rewards to preselected charities of the company’s choice.
Coe argues Coca-Cola’s reward codes are effectively unlawful “trading stamps” since consumers are unable to actually redeem them for anything of value.
“Defendant continues to sell Coke products with reward codes even though the only benefit is to donate their accumulated value to one of its selected nonprofit groups,” the Coca-Cola class action states.
Coe argues Coca-Cola’s rewards program is marketed “contrary to state law” due to it not having “legibly printed upon (their) face a cash value determined by the company in cents or any fraction thereof.”
Coca-Cola class action claims consumers unable to redeem codes for cash
Due to not having a stated cash value, consumers are unable to redeem the codes for cash when presenting them to the company, the Coca-Cola class action alleges.
“This requirement was designed to prevent customers, like Plaintiff, from being left without any value in the event of their accumulation of non-redeemable reward codes,” the class action states.
Coe claims Coca-Cola is guilty of unjust enrichment, negligent representation and fraud and in violation of multiple state consumer fraud acts, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and New York General Business Law.
Coe wants to represent a New York class and a multistate consumer fraud subclass of individuals who have purchased a Coca-Cola product that came with a rewards code.
He demands a jury trial and requests injunctive relief along with monetary, statutory and/or punitive damages for himself and all class members.
A consumer filed a separate class action against Coca-Cola last month over claims the company failed to properly pay its workers following last year’s hack of Kronos’ timekeeping systems.

I would like to be included as a member of the injured class.
How do I register for this lawsuit?
I have hundreds of caps, as I’ve drank diet coke for many years. I started saving them and redeeming for magazine subscriptions and entering sweepstakes for gift cards and various prizes I never won.
During pandemic they ended all that and only allowed donations to charities.
I wouldn’t take the time to enter them for charity I would rather just donate money and take it off my taxes. I kept saving them thinking they’d go back to the rewards eventually.
Count me in.
I already expressed my disappointment in previous email. Not sure you received it. Count me in!
I have saved hundreds of caps over the years. Friends think that I am kookoo. I agree. In the very beginning, I received a reward or two. Finally threw out bags of caps. Now, I have hundreds more and nothing to show for it! Count me in! I am extremely frustrated and dismayed at such a scam from coca cola. I will discontinue buying their products.
i agree i started buying only coke for rewards. yes i like coke but was more of a reason with rewards cause the price went up its getting not worth it to by coke
This should be a lawsuit and sign me up, please!!!!
I’ve been purchasing Coke for years over Pepsi because I wanted the reward points. I had numerous points in my account and apparently, they were lost (taken) without any notice. I have groceries bags loaded with codes I’ve been collecting that are now useless to me. Today I find out they changed their reward program and I can donate them on behalf of Coke. I don’t think so! I dint purchase my Coke products and spend time cutting boxes and collecting codes as well as my family’s, just to lose them. If Coke wanted to give to charities, do it with their money, not mine. I’ll give to my own charities and Coke you give to yours.
This was totally bait and switch. I’m now only purchasing Pepsi.
I would love for a class action suit to come to fruition. I’ve been saving these points for a long time saving them for coveted items and I bought Coke specifically for this reason and it is clear from the rising cost of products and very healthy boasted profits they can afford to treat their customers better. I thank you Glen Coe for starting this !!!
I’ve thrown away hundreds of caps because they wouldn’t do anything but donate my points now Coke sent a email that they are doing away with the cap codes and doing something different without saying what there doing!
Please add me. I did these rewards codes for years and never received anything
Please add me. I have a box of Coke caps. I have two emails (the latest March of this year where CocaCola told me to be patient rewards were returning. In the past I saved/redeemed caps for amusement park tickets for my children (Dorney Park), movie passes, and food concessions, etc. I
