Chrysler recall overview:

  • Who: Chrysler is recalling nearly 180,000 Voyager and Pacifica minivans.
  • Why: The Chrysler recall is due to curtain airbags that may not retain sufficient pressure during deployment.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Chrysler is recalling 178,246 minivans, including the Chrysler Voyager and Pacifica models, due to potential airbag defects.

The Chrysler recall, issued on April 1, affects minivans from the 2022 to 2026 model years. According to the recall, the side curtain airbags in these vehicles may not maintain adequate pressure when deployed, which could lead to insufficient cushioning in the event of a crash.

The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requires specific tolerances for airbags, and the affected vehicles exceed these limits in tests for side-impact or rollover crashes.

“Some vehicles may have been built with a curtain airbag that may not retain sufficient pressure during deployment,” the Chrysler recall says.

Chrysler recall: 30% of minivans may have defect

The recall documents indicate that approximately 30% of the affected minivans might have defective airbags.

Chrysler has identified that the right and left side curtain airbags may have improperly sealed seams, leading to insufficient pressure retention. This defect increases the risk of ejection and injury during a crash.

The Chrysler recall expands upon two previous recalls, suggesting that vehicles repaired under earlier recalls will need the new remedy applied.

To address the issue, Chrysler will inspect and replace the defective airbags at no cost to the vehicle owners. The company has assured that all Chrysler recall repairs will be free of charge.

For more information, consumers can contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Additionally, owners will receive notification letters starting May 14, 2026, and can check their vehicle identification number on NHTSA.gov to see if their vehicle is affected.

Chrysler says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Currently, Chrysler is facing a class action lawsuit claiming the company failed to disclose that certain Dodge vehicles had faulty seat height adjusters.
