A new class action lawsuit alleges Amazon misleads consumers into purchasing Subscribe & Save items through deceptive acts and omissions.

Plaintiffs Aaron and Leah Herman, a married couple, filed the class action complaint against Amazon.com on May 15 in Washington federal court, alleging violations of state consumer laws.

According to the class action lawsuit, Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program, which offers discounts for recurring purchases, is misleading and deceptive.

The Hermans claim they were lured into the program by the promise of savings, only to find that prices increased significantly after their initial purchase, leaving them paying more than they would have otherwise.

Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program allows customers to receive regular deliveries of products they use frequently, such as coffee or household items, at a discounted price.

Class action claims Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program locks customers into higher prices

The Hermans say they signed up for the Subscribe & Save program to purchase Lavazza Espresso Ground Coffee at a discounted price. They believed that the subscription would offer them consistent savings compared to one-time purchases.

However, they allege that Amazon raised the price of the coffee significantly after their initial purchase, resulting in them paying more than they would have if they had purchased the coffee from another seller.

The class action lawsuit claims that Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program is designed to create consumer inertia, making it difficult for customers to cancel their subscriptions or seek better prices elsewhere.

The lawsuit seeks to represent a nationwide class of consumers who enrolled in Amazon’s Subscribe & Save Program and purchased eligible items within the relevant limitations period.

The plaintiffs allege violations of the Washington Consumer Protection Act and other consumer protection laws and seek certification of the class action, damages, fees, costs and a jury trial.

In another Amazon class action, two consumers accused Amazon of violating consumer privacy laws by secretly collecting and selling customer data from Amazon TVs.

Yes, I found the same thing as the others in that once your were signed up the prices did increase. Some of mine so significantly that I had to
discontinue that particular subscribe and save indefinitely. I really should be added to this.
