A new pelvic mesh sling lawsuit has been filed by plaintiff Denise B. The plaintiff alleges that she suffered severe injuries as a result of her pelvic mesh sling and that the manufacturer of that mesh sling failed to inform her and other patients about the risks.
A pelvic mesh sling is recommended for those patients suffering from pelvic organ prolapse (POP). What some patients allege, including the one who initiated this most recent lawsuit against a device manufacturer, is that the companies have failed to give patients or doctors a clear understanding of the side effects that can cause a patient to suffer.
According to lawsuits over the pelvic mesh sling, sometimes this device can make the patient’s urinary problems even worse.
The pelvic mesh sling lawsuit names Boston Scientific Corp. as responsible for failing to investigate possible pelvic mesh sling complications or knowing of the problems and not notifying patients about the risks. Many other patients who have been implanted with a pelvic mesh sling ultimately had problems and had to return to their medical professionals for additional testing and analysis of related medical conditions.
According to the pelvic mesh sling lawsuit against Boston Scientific, the defendants did not warn the plaintiff about the severity, frequency and permanency of risks of using the mesh when she received the Obtryx Sling.
Pelvic Mesh Sling Lawsuit
In June of 2016, Denise says she had her physician implant the sling that was manufactured by defendant, Boston Scientific Corp. Later, she says she experienced severe problems after the implantation of the mesh sling. She reports that she failed a first voiding trial and a second voiding trial after implantation in June 2016, and was then discharged home with a catheter in place as a result of her inability to void.
One month later, in July 2016, she says she was diagnosed with a yeast infection and continued to experience problems with pressure and frequency while attempting to urinate. Denise later complained to other doctors in August 2016 about pressure, frequent urination and possible bladder infection. Allegedly due to her pelvic mesh sling, Denise was diagnosed with dysuria in the same month.
Throughout September she says she continued to experience fever and abdominal pain and ultimately went to the emergency room. Following that, she attended multiple medical appointments in September, in which she explained of sharp pain when urinating. Denise was later diagnosed with a urinary tract infection, hematuria and dysuria, according to her complaint.
Denise says she continued to experience problems throughout the remainder of 2016 and was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis in January 2017. In February 2017, she was diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse. Denise says she continued to experience severe problems following a surgery designed to treat this, leading to her lawsuit against Boston Scientific.
Now the plaintiff of this pelvic mesh sling lawsuit, Denise joins hundreds of other women who report complications from pelvic mesh leading to injury and pelvic mesh revision surgery. If you or someone you love has suffered injury from a pelvic mesh or transvaginal mesh sling, you may have legal recourse to cover pain, suffering and medical expenses.
Denise’s Pelvic Mesh Sling Lawsuit is Case No. 1:18-CV-12323-RBK-AMD, filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Camden County.
