Nearly 10,000 Daimler trucks are being recalled over a fuel system issue.

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling some late-model semi truck tractors because of a sealing washer in the fuel rail assembly that may not seat correctly, which could allow the fuel rail assembly to leak and potentially cause a fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The makes and models affected by the recall include:

  • 2018-2021 FCCC XC Chassis
  • 2018-2021 Freightliner 108SD
  • 2018-2021 Freightliner 114SD
  • 2018-2021 Freightliner Business Class M2
  • 2021 Freightliner Custom Chass XB
  • 2018-2021 Western Star 4700

It is believed approximately 9,662 vehicles are involved in the recall, which was reported by Daimler Trucks North America to the NHTSA on May 7.

The remedy for the recall is still under development, according to the NHTSA, and letters are expected to be mailed to owners on July 5.

Owners can contact Daimler Trucks North America’s customer service line at 1-800-547-0712.
