Kolcraft has reannounced its February 2020 recall of its inclined sleeper accessory due to the suffocation risks it poses to infants.

Although there have been no reports of incidents and injuries in relation to the product, infant fatalities have been reported with other manufacturers’ inclined sleep products after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side, or under other circumstances the recall notice states.

The company made the second announcement last week to alert more customers to the risks posed by the inclined sleeper accessory, sold with the Kolcraft Cuddle ‘n Care 2-in-1 Bassinet & Incline Sleeper (model number starting with KB063) and the Kolcraft Preferred Position 2-in-1 Bassinet & Incline Sleeper (model number starting with KB061).

The model numbers are found on the metal bar between the legs of the bassinet.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission the inclined sleeper is the only portion of the product that is being recalled.

The accessory was sold at juvenile product stores and mass merchandisers nationwide from March 2011 through December 2017 for about $140, and the recall involves about 51,000 units.

The company is urging all consumers to immediately stop using the recalled inclined sleeper accessory, and to contact Kolcraft for a $35 voucher to be used on www.Kolcraft.com until February 20, 2022, or a $20 refund.

Kolcraft is contacting all registered owners and known purchasers directly via a postcard by mail.  Consumers can continue to use the bassinet without the inclined sleeper accessory.

Consumers can contact Kolcraft at 1-800-453-7673 Monday through Thursday from 8:00am through 4:30pm CT and Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm CT. They can also email customerservice@kolcraft.com or complete the Kolcraft Recall Form.

The inclined sleeper accessory isn’t the only product facing a recall over safety risks posed to infants. In April, nationwide recalls were issued for a pair of infant products sold at Target after reports of choking hazards: Cat & Jack Baby Hearts Ears Rompers and B. toys Light-Up Firefly Teether Glowy Chews – Firefly Frank, plastic infant teethers.

Top Class Actions is covering these infant product recalls to help keep consumers informed.
