More than half a million slap watches are being recalled across the United States and Canada due to a choking hazard.

In a recall issued Wednesday on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission website, K & M International said it was recalling a variety of its Wild Republic Slap Watches.

It said the coin cell battery inside the slap watches can fall out, causing a choking hazard for young children, as well as the risk of a battery being ingested.

“Consumers should immediately take the slap watches away from children, stop using them and contact Wild Republic for a full refund,” the company said.

Wild Republic is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

About 463,000 of the watches were sold in the United States, and 75,000 were sold in Canada, the company said. No incidents or injuries have been reported from the batteries so far.

The recall applies to 42 models of Wild Republic slap watches with coin cell batteries attached to the silicone bracelet.

Wild Republic said the face of the watch comes with either an animal design such as a wolf, spider, elephant, dolphin, frog, panda, or a mermaid or King Tut. On the back it says “Made in China” and has the initials K & M.

The watches were sold at Kole Imports, Roer’s Zoofari, Seaquest Interactive Aquarium and other zoos, museums and aquariums.

They were also sold online at Wild Republic.com, Amazon.com and Cory.com from March 2018 through April 2021.

For a refund contact Wild Republic at 800-800-9678 or via email.

Meanwhile, Target has also issued a recall over a choking risk. It is recalling Cat & Jack Baby Heart Ears Rompers because the hearts may detach, posing a choking risk to infants and children.
