PlayStation suspensions overview:

  • Who: Many PlayStation users were locked out of their accounts under permanent bans this week.
  • Why: It is unclear why the PlayStation permanent suspensions occurred, but many users later had their accounts restored.
  • Where: The PlayStation suspensions happened across the United States.

Many PlayStation users were locked out of their accounts under permanent suspensions this week without explanation, The Verge reported.

Later in the week, many of those accounts were restored, but it is still unclear what led to the Playstation permanent suspensions, the website says.

X user Michael Dhaliwal says he received the message: “This account is permanently suspended from PlayStation Network due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement.”

Later, Dhaliwal posted he was able to get into his account but said, “That’s a huge library to have blocked! I hope they’re able to get you back in. I don’t see ‘create another account’ as a viable option for anyone with that much invested.”

Many of the suspended users did not know the reason for the suspension, leading IGN to deduce, like many users, that the PlayStation permanent suspensions were likely a glitch

Sony, PlayStation did not address permanent suspensions, websites report

Sony did not post anything about the PlayStation suspensions on its social media accounts, the Ask PlayStation account or on its website under the important notices support page, The Verge claims.

IGN reached out directly to Sony but did not post that it received any response from the company about the PlayStation suspensions.

“I booted up my PS5 and was able to jump into Baldur’s Gate 3 and Fortnite just like I normally would, and I was also able to log in to the iOS PlayStation app without seeing a ban,” The Verge editor Jay Peters writes. “However, there were numerous posts on Reddit about getting the same thing, and a look at PlayStation accounts on Facebook and Instagram shows dozens of people who’ve received similar notices in the last few hours. The gaming forum ResetEra showed many people experiencing problems … .”

Peters writes that The Verge also received messages from many readers who encountered the PlayStation permanent suspension issue.

In June, a judge dismissed a Sony class action after a PlayStation owner sued over an alleged crash defect in its PS5 devices. The lawsuit claimed Sony concealed a defect in the PS5 gaming system that caused it to suddenly lose power during play.

My son was permanently suspended for sending a photo or illustration to wrong person in a chat of man showing “plumber butt” and the kid reported him. Had many years so there was quite a bit invested in this account.
