Waymo recall overview:

  • Who: Waymo issued a voluntary recall notice to notify the public of a software update on its autonomous vehicle fleet.
  • Why: The software update was issued because of two separate December 2023 accidents between Waymo vehicles and the same towed vehicle.
  • Where: The Waymo recall is valid across the United States.

A new Waymo recall for a software update will address a pair of accidents in which two separate Waymo vehicles struck the same towed vehicle.

According to a voluntary recall notice, the Waymo accidents took place Dec. 11, 2023, in Phoenix with a pickup truck that was being improperly towed.

The pickup truck was angled across a center turn lane and traffic lane, Waymo says. After the first of the Waymo accidents, the tow truck did not pull over and the towed pickup was later hit by a second Waymo vehicle, the company says.

According to Waymo, the positioning of the towed pickup led the Waymo vehicles to incorrectly predict where it was headed.

There were no passengers in either of the Waymo vehicles at the time; no injuries and only minor damage resulted from the Waymo accidents.

Waymo gave notice about the crashes to the Phoenix Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety on Dec. 11 and to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Dec. 15.

Software was updated Dec. 20 to address crash issues, Waymo says

Waymo conducted an investigation of the crashes and updated the software Dec. 20.

The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Waymo vehicles have traveled 10 million fully autonomous miles and made one million ride-hail trips while having fewer police-reported and injury-causing crashes than human drivers, the company says.

This drug I was forced to take not asked told I had to. Made my life a nightmare. I had three other babies born 37 38 and 40 weeks. Not really preterm. Why did I have to take this. Millions of other McKenna shots in the trash right behind me. Did this really need given to all these people. I was ok for two days after the rest of the week I couldn’t get out of bed. I wanted to scream and cry because I felt nothing was left to my body. It was dead and could barely move. I had kids to take care of and couldn’t. I wanted off the drug and they told me that tired was a side effect but not worth taking you off. So I spent weeks on end. Leaving work, tired , gone from life because of this shot. I know was diagnosed with bipolar. Was this cause by all the hormones? I’m 100 pounds like a child size lady. That was way to much hormones for my body and they left me laying there hopeless sick and exhausted. And I didn’t need them😳😳😳😳😳
