Scott Fetzer Fillet Knives Recall Overview

  • Why: The knives may get stuck in the “on” position and pose a risk of laceration.
  • Who: Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands recalled thousands of American Angler Electric Fillet Knives.
  • Where: The recall involves units sold in the United States and Canada.

Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands has recalled thousands of American Angler Electric Fillet Knives that can pose a laceration hazard. About 43,200 units sold in the United States and about 630 in Canada are involved in the recall.

The recall was issued Dec. 29, 2021, after Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands received 23 reports of the knives getting stuck in the “on” position, although no injuries had been reported at that time. 

Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands advises consumers with affected products to immediately stop using the knife, unplug it and cut the power cord. Consumers should then contact the company. Consumers will be asked to provide a mailing address and photo of the recalled product and cut cord as proof of destruction. Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands will then send a replacement electric filet knife to the provided address. Consumers should throw away the destroyed unit in the trash. 

Scott Fetzer Fillet Knives Sold At Walmart, Bass Pro, Amazon

The recalled American Angler Electric Fillet Knives have orange or gray handles and are used to fillet fish. “American Angler” is printed on the handle of each knife. 

The recalled electric fillet knives are labeled with the model number 32300 on the base of the handle. The recall involves the following serial numbers:

  • AEK-OB-DS-003-1
  • AEK-OB-DS-008-1
  • AMK-KM-DS-003-1
  • AEK-OB-RB-004-1

The serial number is printed on the product packaging. 

The knives were sold at Walmart, Bass Pro Shops, Amazon and other retailers nationwide from January 2019 to October 2021 for between $110 and $150. The knives were manufactured in China by Weihai Yuanji Outdoor Products Co., Ltd. (RTI).

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission recall number is 22-042.
