Kids Preferred Disney figurine recall overview:

  • Who: Kids Preferred recalled more than 16,000 “My First” Disney character figurines.
  • Why: The toys present a choking hazard.
  • Where: The Kids Preferred Disney figurine recall is active in the United States and Canada.

Kids Preferred has issued a recall of more than 16,000 “My First” Disney character figurines, as the toys present a choking hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website posted the recall Feb. 16. It applies to “My First” Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and Stitch figurines.

According to the recall, the arms or legs on the figurines can detach, posing a small-part choking hazard to children.

Kids Preferred received 10 reports of small parts detaching from the figurines. No injuries have been reported so far. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

About 16,140 of the figurines were sold in the United States, and about 600 were sold in Canada. They were sold at BuyBuy Baby; other toy, gift and bookstores nationwide; and online at amazon.com from May through December 2022 for between $15 and $19.

Consumers should stop using toys, return for full refund, Kids Preferred recall states

Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact Kids Preferred for instructions on receiving a full refund, the company says.

“Consumers who register for the recall will receive a prepaid shipping label to return the product to the firm for a full refund,” the Disney figurine recall says.

The recalled products are soft vinyl figurines. Some of the figurines have a bead rattle, and they measure about 4.25 to 5.25 inches high.

In other Disney product news, Bentex in November issued a recall of nine Disney-themed children’s clothing sets as they are made with ink that contains lead in excess of federal limits.
