The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that Hit Promotional Products is recalling its Coastline Ceramic Mugs over the possibility that they can crack or break when exposed to hot liquids.
This problem can then cause users to experience burns from the hot liquid, or lacerations from the broken mug, says the CPSC. Unfortunately, even normal use of the product may put customers in danger.
The recall was issued on Oct. 29, 2019, and affects around 34,000 units. The recall was implemented after Hit Promotional Products received 10 reports of the mugs cracking or breaking during use with hot liquids. Happily, there have been no reports of injuries in association with the problem.
The Coastline Ceramic Mugs were given to consumers for free as promotional products, explains the CPSC. The CPSC says that the mugs were given out at meetings and events around the country between October 2018 and September 2019.
The CPSC describes that mugs as being available in several colors. They all have a grey lower portion, and “China” is printed on the bottoms of the mugs. The mugs are decorated with the logos and/or names of various organizations.
The mugs were manufactured in China, and were imported by Hit Promotional Products Inc. of Largo, Fla.
The recall number of the mugs is 20-014.
Customers are advised to stop using the recalled mugs immediately. Customers who have a recalled Coastline Ceramic Mug can contact Hit Promotional Products to request a free replacement mug.
Hit Promotional Products can be reached by phone at 800-237-6305, Extension 2691, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. The company can also be reached by email at lthibado@HitPromo.net or online at www.hitpromo.net by clicking on the product recalls button under the Support menu, near the bottom of the web page.
The CPSC notes that the recall was conducted voluntarily by Hit Promotional Products under the CPSC’s Fast Track Recall process, in an effort to best protect customers and provide them a remedy for the defective mugs.
Customers are invited to report an incident with the recalled Coastline Ceramic Mugs on the CPSC website.
The Coastline Ceramic Mugs are not the only household products to be recalled recently. Earlier this month, a Kmart dresser was subject to recall because it reportedly had a propensity for tipping over. This could allegedly cause injury to consumers, particularly to children. Unfortunately, products that customers may use in everyday life may pose an unexpected risk.
Recalls like these help to protect customers from possibly dangerous products. They can also help offer remedy to customers who spent money on defective or dangerous products that were later recalled.
