Cantaloupe recalls overview:
- Who: GHGA, Cut Fruit Express, Bix Produce and Kwik Trip issues recalls for products containing cut cantaloupe following a series of prior cantaloupe recalls.
- Why: The cantaloupes used in the recalled products came from lots previously recalled due to potential salmonella exposure.
- Where: The cantaloupe recalls were issued for products distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
GHGA, Cut Fruit Express, Bix Produce and Kwik Trip issued recalls for products containing cut cantaloupe following a series of prior cantaloupe recalls due to potential salmonella exposure.
GHGA LLC recalled fresh-cut fruit cups and fresh fruit packages made with Produce’s TruFresh cantaloupes. The company sold the fruit at Kroger stores in Alabama and Georgia; Sprouts stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina; and Trader Joe’s retail stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Cut Fruit Express Inc. announced a recall for Caribou Coffee Fruit Mix CHPG 6.5-ounce and Cut Fruit Express Brand of 6.5-, 15-, 16- and 32-ounce packages of fruit mix containing cantaloupes and food service packages of a 5-, 10- and 25-pound variety.
Cut Fruit Express sold the Caribou Coffee mix at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport store with a Nov. 4, 2023, use-by date and the Cut Fruit Express packages through retail and food service delivery in Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin with use-by dates of Nov. 4-6, 2023.
Bix Produce issued a voluntary recall of Grab N’ Go containers of cut cantaloupe and mixed fruit cups related to the prior Malachita recall. It sold the containers from Oct. 19-20, 2023, at convenience stores, delis and business cafes in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Kwik Trip Inc. initiated a recall of fresh-cut fruit cups and trays with cantaloupe from TruFresh. It sold the mixed fruit cups, cantaloupe cups and fruit trays at Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Stop-N-Go, Tobacco Outlet Plus Grocery and Tobacco Outlet Plus convenience stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Illinois and South Dakota.
No reports of salmonella illness from newly recalled products
GHGA, Cut Fruit Express, Bix Produce and Kwik Trip say they have not received any reports of salmonella illness from their products included in the recall so far. The companies are not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

This was the second time the cantaloupe recalls have been expanded in the past week with a variety of cantaloupe products now part of the notice.
