  • Who: HMC Farms voluntarily recalled whole peaches, plums and nectarines sold nationwide from May 1-Nov. 15, 2022, and May 1-Nov. 15, 2023.
  • Why: The company initiated the recall over concerns the produce may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, with the recalled whole peaches linked to an outbreak of listeriosis.
  • Where: The recall affects consumers nationwide.

HMC Farms voluntarily recalled some of its whole peaches, plums and nectarines over concerns the produce may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The recall involves HMC Farms peaches, plums and nectarines sold in retail stores nationwide from May 1-Nov. 15, 2022, and May 1-Nov. 15, 2023, according to a recall notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

HMC Farms says the recalled peaches are linked to an outbreak of listeriosis that has caused 11 illnesses.

“The fruit is being recalled because it has the potential to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” the recall states.

HMC Farms recall involves plums, peaches, nectarines grown conventionally

The recall involves peaches, plums and nectarines grown conventionally and does not include any that are still available for sale, according to the recall.

Consumers should check their freezers for the recalled fruit and discard it.

Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact HMC Farms directly at (844) 483-3867.

In other fruit-related news, a consumer filed a class action lawsuit against Target Corp. last month, arguing the company falsely labels its Market Pantry brand fruit cocktail product as containing 100% juice.
