Adam’s Polishes LLC has recalled twenty lots of Adam’s Polishes Hand Sanitizer because consumer safety watchdogs have found that one lot contains undeclared methanol.

The recall notice was posted to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website Nov. 7, and applies to various lot numbers of the product, which can be seen here

According to the recall, people who accidently drink the products are at risk for methanol poisoning.

“Substantial methanol ingestion can result in coma, seizures, permanent blindness, permanent damage to the central nervous system, or death,” the recall notice says.

To date, Adam’s Polishes has not received any reports of injury, illness, or other adverse events related to this recall, the company said. It is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Adam’s Polishes hand sanitizer was distributed nationwide

The hand sanitizer was distributed nationwide to online customers between June 2020 and March 2022. Adam’s Polishes is notifying its customers by email.

“Consumers who have any recalled Adam’s Polishes Hand Sanitizer products should immediately stop using the product and dispose of it in accordance with local regulations,” the recall states.

To seek a credit for the recalled sanitizers, check the Adam’s Polishes website to check if your product’s lot number is included in this recall.

Consumers can also email Adam’s Polishes with a request for a credit at hs@adamspolishes.com. You will need to include a picture of the bottle including the lot number.

Meanwhile, Tennessee Technical Coatings Corp. is also voluntarily recalling all lots of one of its hand sanitizers, the FDA says.
